My poll

1...Pulaski Academy - Beating this good 4A team by as much as they did makes them move up to the #1 spot in my poll.

2...Wynne - The Yellowjackets haven't done anything wrong to drop other than just not have the level of competition that PA has had.

3...Camden Fairview - The Cardinals jump up a spot after beating a good 4A team in Dollarway.

4...Batesville - Jonesboro has been a solid 6A team for the past few years and beat Batesville like this and the Pioneers have always done well anyways in 5A. I'll keep them up here for now.

5...Sylvan Hills - I think Sylvan Hills competition level hasn't been great, but they are winning like they are supposed to. They earn this spot for now.

6...Little Rock Christian - Little Rock Christian takes it to Jacksonville who gave Maumelle a good game.

7...Blytheville - This team beat Marion much like Wynne did. Sylvan Hills is this year's popular "dark horse" but this team might be the real dark horse.

8...Greenbrier - They kept it close with a very much improved Benton team until the end. I think their offense will be enough to do well in 5A.

9...Magnolia - Yes this team rises one spot in my poll after a loss because they loss by 9 points to the defending 6A champs. Magnolia looks to be much improved...CF lost to El Dorado by 7.

10...Farmington - I actually think I might be putting this team too low. They killed a Van Buren team that beat White Hall. Maybe I'm just in shock over how well Farmington is doing their first year in 5A. They'll move up more if they keep winning in conference.

Fan of White Hall:

1   Wynne 3-0 (0 change from last week) They keep rolling, they stay #1.  Looks like that'll continue at least until they play the Pioneers.
2   PA 2-1 (+1) Impressive win over a top-tier 4A team.  I fully expect them to roll into the playoffs at 9-1.
3   Batesville 2-1 (-1) They lost, but by 2 at a team that made the 6A semifinals last year, so their fall is a short one.  I look forward to their game vs Wynne.  I doubt either team takes a loss between now and then.
4   Sylvan Hills 3-0 (+/-0) Soundly beat a pretty good 4A team.
5   Fairview 2-1 (+1) Beat a strong 4A team, but not by as much as I'd expect from CF.
6   LRCA 2-1 (+3) Convincing win over fellow 5A side Jacksonville.  I'm telling y'all, don't sleep on the Warriors this year.
7   Maumelle 2-0-1 (+1) A tie, but they still have yet to taste defeat as a 5A team, which is impressive in and of itself since they were in 4A last year.
8   Greenbrier 2-1 (-3) Lost by 20 to a 6A team that seems to be much improved this year, but even so.  By 20.
9   Magnolia 2-1 (+4) Yes, they lost, but only by 9 against the reigning 6A champ.  I really think they're making the playoffs out of the South this year.  Coach Panter's turning this program around.
10   Farmington 3-0 (+8) Wow.  20 points over any 7A school is impressive, but especially since they were in 4A last year and VB looks to be better this year than they've been in a while.

Also considered: Blytheville.  It was very hard to leave a 3-0 team out, but I don't know anything about Okolona, and neither Marion nor Osceola looks like they can beat eggs this year, so I'm not quite sold on them yet, but I think it's very possible they'll make this poll at some point.

Rising in: Magnolia, Farmington
Dropping out: Harrison, Mills

Thoughts: The East looks like a 2 horse race, but I'll be interested to see how Blytheville does against Wynne next week.  The Central is PA and everybody else unless Sylvan Hills can shock the world, no one else is even decent.  The South is very down this year, it's CF and everybody else, but probably not as overall bad as the Central.  I think (but that may be bias talking).  The West looks like a fun conference this year; wide open and anything could happen.

Sylvan Hills should be watched closely. I saw them tear apart a Potential 4A State Title Team in the Newport Greyhounds. They threw them around like they didn't deserve to be there. They can compete with any 5A team. Look for them to go deep.

As for GuvHog's poll, since I see a lot of criticism about it, it most certainly does have a touch of homerism, but it's not blatant. WC did only lose to Nashville by 9 points and I think Nashville may be the favorite in 4A right now.

Obviously, as conference goes along and if Watson Chapel keeps losing I will be more strict. The rest of his poll is solid, but I'll keep an eye out in the future.

    PA - they tie Wynne at the top spot in my poll this week.
3. CF - good win against a solid $way team.
4. Sylvan Hills - good ballteam that has been a good surprise this year.
5. Batesville - will be the only team to challenge Wynne in regular season.
6. Greenbrier - tons of offense, but defense will need to step it up.
7. Magnolia - everyone's dark horse is looking good so far.
8. Maumelle - great defense, offense needs to step it up. The exact opposite of Greenbrier.
9. Blytheville - another dark horse who's making some noise in 5A.
10. Farmington - impressive win last week.

Just outside:
Harrison - I still think they're better than their record would indicate.
LRCA - I could probably have put them in the top 10, but they gave up 40 points to Fountain Lake. FL is pretty scrappy, and is a good team, but we held them to 6 points. I can't help but apply the transitive property.

Another perspective:  LRCA scored 30 on Fountain Lake who have only given up 44 points in 3 games while Maumelle's anemic offense could on muster 6 points against that 4A defense.

1.  PA 2-1 (0)- Mercy ruled the team RPS had ranked #2 in 4A.
2.  Wynne 3-0 (+1)- Thumped a 7A/6A school by 30.  I for one am interested in next week's game in will show whether the East is a 2 team or 3 team race.
3.  Batesville 2-1 (-1)- Stumbled a bit against a pretty good 6A team in Jonesboro, however I don't think Jonesboro is as good as the last couple of years.  Ready to see the outcome of the Oct. 17th game!
4.  Sylvan Hills 3-0 (0)- Seriously considered putting them 3rd over Batesville with the B-ville loss; however even knowing they are much improved from an already decent team last year, I'm still not sure they are better than #4.
5.  Camden Fairview 2-1 (0)- Beat a very good 4A, unfortunately for CFV no one else above them gave them any help in moving up in my poll.
6.  Farmington 3-0 (+2)- Beat Van Buren by 20, I have been pretty high on this team all year.  I would like to see them make a run in the 5A West.
7.  Blytheville 3-0 (NR)- Ok, I was on the fence last week about putting the Chicksaws in my top 10 and decided against it.  Beating Marion by almost as much as Wynne made my decision.  Next week should be interesting.
8.  Greenbrier 2-1 (-2)- Lost by 20 to what seems to be a pretty good 6A Benton team. Still should be in the 5A West title hunt.
9. Little Rock Christian 2-1 (0)- We will see what happens starting this week.
10. Maumelle 2-0-1 (0)- It was a toss up between them and Blytheville being in this slot last week, and this week it is between them and Magnolia.  I'm still not sold on Magnolia.

Another perspective:  LRCA scored 30 on Fountain Lake who have only given up 44 points in 3 games while Maumelle's anemic offense could on muster 6 points against that 4A defense.   

I posted the offensive issues in another thread. Basically it's not 'anemic' from a yards gained perspective. Our problem is scoring in the red zone. We had the ball twice inside the 15-yard line and two bad snaps lost us 15 to 20 yards each time. We also had a touchdown on a punt return called back. I'd say we're not so much anemic as we are sloppy. Plus, and I've said this from the get-go - we really miss Tyshun at QB. J.B. Is a really talented athlete, but he doesn't have the arm to stretch the field vertically like Tyshun could.
