Road to Hot Springs: Defeated Hope, 84-44, Pulaski Academy, 70-67, and Hot Springs, 70-66, in state tournament

FEARLESS FRIDAY: Maumelle is playing in its second straight championship game after losing last year to Little Rock McClellan, 82-73. ... Forrest City is playing in its sixth final in five different decades with a championship two years ago and finishing runner-up in 2007, 1980, 1973 and 1960. ... Maumelle's former school, Pulaski Oak Grove, lost in the 1983 finals to Drew Central. ... Forrest City's Robert Glasper scored a career-high 59 points in a 117-115 triple overtime loss to Class 3A finalist Cedar Ridge in the opening round of the Barry Pruitt Hurricane Classic in Jonesboro in December. ... The championship game is an East vs West affair with Maumelle the top seed out of the 5A-West and Forrest City the top seed from the 5A-East.

FEARLESS FACTS: Greene County Tech was just 7-7 against a very good nonconference schedule before beginning 5A-East action. ... Greene County Tech shared the 5A-East title with Nettleton and Batesville, losing once to each, and was the second seed in the state tournament from the conference. ... Watson Chapel has not lost a game in 2016, going 14-0 in 5A-South play in January and February, and then 3-0 in last week's state tournament. ... Watson Chapel's losses are to Star City, Searcy and Hot Springs.
