Can someone explain the process/timing requirements for pre-qualifying for the state track meet? Are there set standards? Or do they change every season depending on times being run in regular season meets? Thanks for the info!
Must be at a certified meet. Change once a year. Here are this years: http://members.ahsaa.org/public/userfiles/Track_Field/B-G_2018_Qualifying_Standards.pdf
If an athlete meets or exceeds the standard at a certified meet with no wind aid they can be qualified for state. Your coach must follow an email protocol for letting the state meet director know. It has a time requirement after your district meet as well.
The standards are tabulated by figuring the average of the last 5 years' 3rd place finishes in each event.
Hope this is helpful.
Great info! Thanks for posting!
