Wow Nashville vs Bauxite to start conference play. I think those two are probably the preseason favorites with Ashdown, Arkadelphia, and Malvern right there also

~WPS~

Tonight is opening night for conference play. As always I appreciate any scores that can be given throughout the year to help me keep this updated and accurate. Good luck to all teams tonight and this season.

Which Malvern vs Mena game will be played @ Malvern? They both show @ Mena

Final

Rough game for both teams, Nashville in the first half/Bauxite in the second. Bauxite started off strong leading 38-17 going into halftime. Senior center Bradly McCool suffered a concussion at the end of the half and missed the second half of the game.

Pettway struggled early in the game, but picked up steam as the game went on. Should be a fun matchup when both teams are at full strength heading into the District tourney.

When Bauxite is hot from 3 they can't be beat. They were tonight in the 1st half. In the 2nd half they basically tried to play keep away the whole time. I've never liked that style of play because what happened tonight could happen, you stop scoring and let the other team back in it. But I agree this will be a dandy later this season.

I believe the keep away came from the lack of a strong post player with McCool out. The few times they entered it there, it was turned over immediately. Nashville looked much stronger once they got out of Man and went to a zone. They jump the lanes FAST. Any word on how the rest of 7-4A is doing? I never see anything and Maxpreps isn't reliable half the time.

I've heard a little about Arkadelphia. They've played a tough schedule and don't have many wins. Other than that I haven't heard anything about anyone. I wish more teams would've played tonight to give an idea of how good everyone is.

l0l

Meant to ask, how long is the kid with the broken hand out? I remember he was a good player last year. Not to take anything away from this years team but they seem to lack depth and missing him hurts.

~WPS~

I'm not sure how long he will be out. I didn't know about it until tonight. We lost both big men and nobody has stepped up to fill their shoes. The only inside game we have is Hopkins and Pettway driving in. We showed some signs in the 2nd half of being a good team and hopefully they can put it together over the holidays.

~WPS~

You chose a fun game to watch. Up by 30 points in the 4th quarter is mercy rule. We got up by 31 at one point.

An interesting stat on this game.. It was 32-24 Nashville with about 5 minutes left in the 3rd when Nashville went on a 20-0 run, with Hopkins scoring 15 of the 20, to extend the lead to 52-24 at the end of the 3rd.

Bauxite was without starting senior center Bradly McCool for the second game, due to concussion.

Not positive but I think multiple ligaments. He tweaked it early season in football and played through it.

think

Bauxite up 50-17 at the half @ Mena.

Ashdown Girls beat Malvern last night, I think it was Malvern's first conference loss in 2 years.
Ashdown Boys beat Malvern by about 20, I left early it wasn't even a game.
