2 things I did like about the old astroturf though: you felt fast on it compared to real grass and we had a big crown on our field so as an inside backer I always felt like I was running downhill

It is faster, no doubt. But those carpet burns ain't no joke especially when you have to take a bath or a shower afterwards lol.
Drove through Camden yesterday and turf was looking really good. I was glade to see they didn't put that strutting cardinal in the middle of the field
