Ludwick is out for a few days with a bruised shin and as soon as he is healthy I am going to decide who I am going to send down to AAA so I can bring up another RP.

msubulldogs21

When you get a chance you should do a Memphis and Springfield update. I'm curious what kind of prospects you have.

Getting Iwamura was a nice move.

Game One of a huge 4 game set against the Reds.

Reds         3 12 1
Cardinals   4 10 0  Final/ 10

HR- Duncan (6)
RBI- Pujols (39), Duncan (13), Ludwick (23), Ankiel (23)
GIDP- DeRosa, Ryan
SB- DeRosa (17), Iwamura 2 (2)

Pitching
Wainwright           6.1 IP, 6 Hits, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K's
Motte (H, 4)         0.1 IP, 0 Hits, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K

Todd (W, 1-0)      1.1 IP, 1 Hit, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K

What a back and forth game. Wainwright was crusing until the 7th where he got the bases loaded with nobody out. I got Phillips to ground into a FC as I threw the runner out at home. I putt Motte in the game then and he got a strikeout. I put Reyes in the to pitch to the lefthander and he allowed a single and the game was tied. In the bottom of the 7th Ankiel singled in a run and I went back up 2-1. McClellan was awful tonight as I put him in the 8th and he gave up the lead and I went into the 8th down 3-2. My addition of Iwamura payed off as he singled to lead off the inning and then stole second base and was eventually brought in by a Ludwick line drive. In to bottom of the 10th after Jess Todd grounded out to start the inning (only had Franklin left in the pen) Iwamura came up and again got a single and AGAIN stole second base. After Duncan moved him over to 3rd with a grounder Pujols came up and hit a game winning single up the middle. This game was huge because now I am only 3 back from the Reds in the division.

Big win since it assures me I wont leave this series any further back from the Reds than I was when I started this series.

msubulldogs21

That'd be awesome if you could get the 4 game sweep, but just splitting the next two would be nice as well.

I'm surprised the Reds are so good. They suck on my franchise.

For perhaps the 15th time this season I have a runner in scoring position to tie the game in the last inning and the game screws me over by having me ground into a double play. I don't know about you guys but I haven't gone a game yet without a GIDP and I lead the league by a wide margin and its starting to piss me off.

Oh and Cueto only threw 11 Balls in his entire outing. Yeah. Right.

McClellan (W, 1-2) 2.0 IP, 1 Hit, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K's

For the third time in this four game set we went into extras. Grienke was not sharp and allowed four runs. In the bottom of the 8th I was down three and had runners on first and second for Ludwick and he singled home a run. Then with two outs and the bases loaded Rick Ankiel hit a 2 run single to tie the game at 6. Kyle McClellan came in during extras and threw two great innings of relief and in the 11th Ankiel came up again and this time hit a walk off HR to win the game and the series putting the Cards only two games behind the Reds.

In other news DeRosa left in the 9th with a sore hamstring and will be out a few days. Now I have another four game series at home against the Rockies.

I couldn't help but notice that De Rosa has 16 steals. How did that happen? LOL

He has some speed. He has also been caught ten times tho lol. So perhaps I shouldn't run him so much.

Lohse threw an absolute gem and he got a complete game shutout. DeRosa hit a HR in the 8th to get the only run in. In the 9th Lohse walked the leadoff man but got a huge strikeout of Helton and then got Hawpe to ground into a double play to end the game.

Nothing like giving up 5 runs in the last two innings to frustrate you. Time to regroup for a three game series at Florida.

msubulldogs21

Wow. Game 4 was quite the opposite from Game 3.

But still, not a bad homestand going 5-3.

bulldogs1159

Lost the first two games of the Marlins series 2-6 and 1-5. Gotta get this turned back around.

Sounds like your offense has hit the skids like mine has lately.

Great outing by Wainwright to stave off getting swept. Interleague play starts now as I got to Cleveland for a series.

bulldogs1159

Been gone for a while but here is an update on the scores I have yet to post:

@ Cleveland L 3-4
@ Cleveland L 4-5
@ Cleveland L 3-6
    Detriot    W 4-2
    Detriot    W 2-1
    Detriot    L 4-6
@ Kansas City W 8-7

Still have two more left in Kansas City and then I have a four game set at the Mets.

bulldogs1159

Very annoyed right now. After hitting a 3 run HR in the 7th to take the lead against KC I go to my bullpen to warm someone up and for some reason it keeps telling me I must replace the KC pitcher and I cant leave the screen. It shows my bullpen lineup and I can have them warm up or sit down but it keeps telling me to replace the KC pitcher. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

bulldogs1159

I went ahead and simulated the KC game cause I was so frustrated and won 5-0.

Wainwright threw a gem again and this time got some run support so he can get the W. Hopefully Iwamura broke out of his slump with his 3 hits today becasue after his first two games in a Cardinal uniform he has done nothing. Crazy that all of my hits were singles, probably why I was only able to score 3 runs off them.

bulldogs1159

I lost game two of the series in 13 innings 3-2.

So David Wright helped me out big time with three throwing errors as I actually had my first run before I had my first hit. Joel was very strong in this game as well.

Pitching
Greinke (W, 5-7)        9.0 IP, 9 Hits, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K's

Grienke had a shutout going into the 9th but gave up two in the last frame. It was nice to finally get the outing from Grienke that I wanted since the trade and hopefully this keeps up. Another thing of note from this game is Iwamura hit an inside the park HR. He smashed a line drive to straight center field and Beltran dove forward trying to catch it and missed it and the ball rolled all the way to the 408 sign as Iwamura raced around the bases. The throw to the plate was off line and I got my first HR like that in as long as I can remember. Funny thing is now he has two HR and has only 2 RBI's.

Next is a three game series at home against the Twins.

Todd                                  1.0 IP, 1 Hit, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K's

Easy to see I teed off on their starter. Carpenter was not very good at all but got the W so it at least makes up for the times I gave him no run support on good outings.

Miller                          1.0 IP, 1 Hit, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K's

Wainwright had his worst start of the month and left with the game tied at 3 in the top of the 7th after giving up a lead off double. I brought Motte in who was unhittable as his fastball was reaching 99 and his slider was hitting its mark as he struck out the next three batters to strand the runner at 2nd. I busted the game open against their bullpen in the 8th.

I hadn't thrown Reyes in a while so I put him in to get some work up by 4 in the 8th and he gives up a 3 run HR to Rowand. Oh well still pull out a close game win. This is 6 in a row which is my highest streak this season.

Miller (W, 2-1)        3.0 IP, 0 Hits, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K's

Man this game took forever. I had the lead with 2 outs in the 9th when Franklin let Phillips hit a solo shot to tie it. The bullpens worked well for the next few innings until Ankiel hit a triple off the left field wall to lead off the 16th and Molina knocked him in with a single. Reyes and Miller were awesome in the extra frames and combined only allowed one hit in 6 innings.

The game decided that it would be awesome to freeze trying to load the main menu after this game so I LOST the entire thing. What a freaking waste.

I went ahead and simmed the game cause I was to frustrated to play it again and won 7-0.

The hitting can be tough to get used to (I started the season 1-4) but I think you will get the hang of it after a few games.

bulldogs1159

I just won a game 15-7 and hit four HR's but the game decided it would be awesome to freeze again. I am about to break it. I am losing my patience.

Simmed the game that froze and won 7-2, and played the second against the Cubs and lost 4-3 in extra innings again. Also Grienke went out in the 3rd with a fractured wrist and will miss at least two months. Yay........

One more game before the all star break.

I lost Jon Lester to that exact same injury. That really hurts man. Who is your replacement SP?

Right now I've called up Brad Thompson but the trade deadline is still a couple weeks out so I'm going to shop around.
