A story about Mountain Home!

Back in the early 90's Linda and I rode our motorcycle to Atkins to visit an uncle and aunt who I had just met about 3 to 4 weeks ago. When we left Atkins we went though the country rode's to Mountain Home.

When we got to Mountain Home it was well after dinner time and we were hungry. We stop at a place we knew nothing about. After going in I said, "Maybe we should go somewhere else, the place was trashy. Yet we were hungry so we stayed."

I ordered a Chicken fried Steak and Linda ordered a Hamburger Steak.

Just after they brought our salad to us two people came in the front door, looked around, them walked out. I said to Linda, "Maybe we should have done that too!"

The salad was good, and looked good.

Linda said to me, "The cook is standing back there, look at him." I looked, he had a old t-shirt with holes in it every where and a pair of jeans with holes in it every where.

I said to Linda, "Should we leave?"

She said, "Lets stay, this salad was very good." So we stayed.

After a bit the waitress brought our food to us, my chicken fried steak was huge, I order mashed potatoes, and I had plenty of masked potatoes. Linda's Hamburger steak was huge to, she ordered French fries, and they were lots of French fries on her plate. And our food was delicious, it taste just great.

A man in Nashville that owned a poultry company and he and his wife was going to retire to Mountain Home, I told him where that place was and how good the food was. The next weekend they were going up there. That next week he told me he and his wife had eaten breakfast at that place, and it was the best breakfast he had had at a restaurant ever and during that weekend they ate there several times. I asked him was in spic & clean. He said, "It was no where close to spic & clean, but we will eat there again." Two moths or so later he told me the place had shut down and I will never find a place that has that good of food.

I guarantee you, the cook and waitress were 100% Rednecks, and their food was great! And I enjoy eating at 'Greasy Spoons," They usually have the best food.
