Monticello was "big dog" in the 5a southeast for years. Dropped down the the 8-4a and has had their aces handed to them every since.

They were the Big Dogs in the 5A Southeast until Drew Central started a football program and some of the better players moved over there. Losing students to Drew Central is why they dropped to 4A.
there you go again making stuff up. drew central has never had an impact player, much less one that transferred from Monticello. Monticello dropped off when their coach left. no other reason.

By the way, didn't that coach who left actually return as an assistant coach for some time??
Nope

That isn't what I was told. When he applied for the Watson Chapel job, he made them a bunch of promises (one that he would be there a long time) then in 3 years, walked out on them. He then retired for a bit then returned to Monticello High as an assistant for a time before retiring again. There are some here who are still angry over what he did to WC.

Granted that was a big part of it but their talent level dropped off too. By the way, didn't that coach who left actually return as an assistant coach for some time??
no he is the head coach at barton.

But the question is why. They have been in a steady decline since Van Paschal left. Did you consider that 2009 Championship part of a down swing? You might need to quit while you are behind on this one.

Now that is bold!  Maybe the  two of them should form their own conference and play each other every week, at the end of the year maybe one of them would have a winning record!

I don't know I don't think anyone in the state beats Monticello that year

Well Monticello wouldn't have any problems with junction city or Ft lake in 2009 I don't see Shiloh beating Monticello that year they would i think they get by Eldorado Har- Ber gives them the most trouble but Monticello had a bunch of players that year to sub

Yep, some people are easily confused and don't understand the thread. The majority of this board doesn't think the Birds will be any good this year so picking them to go 4-6 and 6th place (like Hooten's says) is not really a "Bold Prediction".

A Bold Prediction would be 10-0 or 0-10.

Ozark gets better talent in then what they have had these last three seasons and has a good chance at conference in a down season with different teams coming in.

Teams leaving the 4-4A
Baptist Prep
Pulaski Robinson
Clinton

Teams joining the 4-4A
Booneville
Waldron
west fork

My predictions for conference next year

1) Booneville
2) Dardanelle
3) Ozark
4) Dover
5) west fork
6) Pottsville
7) Waldron
8) Subiaco

StormChaser83

My 4A Final Four is Dardanelle, Pocahontas, Gosnell and Warren..

My upset pick of the playoff is Nashville going down somewhere.

I think it will be Dardanelle vs Pocahontas/Warren in the 4A Title Game.

Dardanelle will beat Pocahontas, and seeing the Warren only lost by 7 to Monticello, I would give the slight edge to the Sand Lizards in that game, as they will also be looking for revenge. That's not to say Warren won't win, because it wouldn't surprise me if they do.

$aintMaximu$

My 4A prediction PG wins the top bracket and plays the winner of the Warren/Nashville game..

Final - PG vs. Warren

Bold prediction. Warren is not as down as some of you think.

I think the favorites to make it to WMS are Dardanelle and the winner of Warren Nashville game, but then again you never know. I honestly believe there are several teams capable of getting hot and making a run! The postseason will be fun!
