You think Carl is missing the playoffs his senior year?  No chance!

I didn't realize one player made an entire team.

A player like Carl Turner can be a huge impact playing both side of the ball. He's also a good motivator who has been in lots of big situations.

I'm going to answer this question as if he'll play (in actuality, I've heard he won't be eligible. No confirmation, yet). I'm not arguing Carl Turner isn't a good player. When a player accumulates as many yards as he has throughout his career, it's obvious he is, but he's also benefitted playing alongside some good players his first three seasons (Crite, Stafford, Willis, Simmons, Cordell, Schulz, Macias, Bowen, Alcorn to name a few). All of which have graduated. Yes, there's Ben Collier (who I've also heard may be ineligible; again, unconfirmed) and a few others, but by and large, he'll be on an island all season as he's the focal point of an offense that's lost its best lineman, the quarterback he's shared the backfield with for three seasons and all of its receivers. Defenses will pin their ears back and come at him full-throttle all season because they'll realize the Greyhounds have no other options.

Highland
Worst case (6-4) Hopefully (8-2)
Harding Academy (?)
Clinton - W
Earle - W
Jonesboro Westside - W
Brookland - W
Harrisburg - W
Gosnell - ?
Cave City - W
Pocahontas - ?
Trumann - W
Games of concern:
Harding Academy has a winning tradition but in a lower class, that teams scares me. Clinton is rebuilding and we will see how that turns out at home, Gosnell predicted to win the conference and is always pretty salty. Pockey and Highland is a Rival and always a good game it can go either way.

I think the 2-4A is so wide open this year that Riverivew or Batesville SS might sneak into the playoffs. It could happen !
If Riverview stays healthy they may surprise some teams this fall. Lot of experienced guys & a few new additions.

I agree. What kind of team speed do they have ?
Should be the fastest overall team they've had, 2 of the new guys are really fast. Lot of Sr's on this team that had a lot of success when they were 9th graders.

HeberFan

Riverview has a really big lineman who plays both ways and also kicks? Can't recall his name. Does he have the grades to be a college prospect?

Burks

Robinson Senators, I see going 9-1 or 8-2. Losing to Rogers Heritage and maybe DSandLizards. That's a big maybe! If Senators get by Heritage watch out!

You will lose to Heritage.... keep dreaming. A below average 7A team will mow all over Robinson. Heritage is terrible anyway. They won their 3 regular season games by a combined 8 points over Russellville, Rogers, and Springdale who are terrible 6A or 7A teams. They even lost to Van Buren.

I'm not saying Robinson will beat Heritage but it is possible. 2 years ago Ashdown, who finished the regular season as a 4 seed in 7-4A, beat West Memphis in a neutral site game. West Memphis wasn't very good that year but neither is Heritage this year. It is safe to say that this Robinson team will be better than that Ashdown team. Anything is possible

You sure about that big maybe?

Will all those skill kids have to play defense? Because The ones they had last yr tried to play defense and if they Havent gotten any better then nobody is worried. They better get A LOT more physical also.

D-TOWN LIZARD

Robinson is getting all caught up on the hype train.  It takes a lot more than a few good players to win.  If they can't produce on the field what's the point?  And like I've said before, they have to prove themselves, bc they have yet to do that.

This is true. However, EVERYBODY has something to prove this year.

The Senators heard all winter how they underachieved in 2014. In football it starts with QB play, is there anyone in the conference better than BJohnson? The Lizards will miss KThompson more than they think. I agree with SUGARTOWN, "EVERYONE has something to prove". Particularly Joe T!  Again, The Senators win conference this year.

Thats a big maybe.

Johnson is good but, if they can't protect him, block for the run, or stop anyone on defense it won't matter.

HeberFan

I agree... no quarterback is good enough to carry a weak team. Think of all the good quarterbacks drafted into the NFL that get roughed up behind a sub-par offensive line.

They will win the conference when they learn the fundamentals of football like tackling, blocking, and toughness.... and I don't think you learn that. You either want to hit or you don't.

Maybe those transfers from PA can help change the culture at Robinson. I wouldn't dismiss them until we see them play this year.

Not dismissing them just saying if they've not improved on defense or up front and gotten a lot more physical then it'll be tough for them to beat good teams. All these skill guys may be good but there is only 1 ball to go around.

Just ask  like Highland, Booneville, and Clinton the last three Novembers. No one is scared of Dollarway unless its a regular season game in Pine Bluff.

IDK, but that's what the Newport poster Infamous was hinting by about earlier in the summer...

His team must have to play Newport this year.

LOL. My team is Newport.

How did Nettleton shut out the Hounds?

I tried to tell you earlier this summer Newport wouldn't be any good. Nettleton stacked the box -- they had ten at one point -- shut down Carl and dared Newport to throw the football down the field. And, Newport had no answer. Ben Collier looked overwhelmed, fumbling the ball twice and throwing an interception. That, and losing the turnover margin by -5. That's crushing to any team's chances, especially one that plays a ball-control style as Newport does. Granted, it was the first game with Jon Bradley's offense and with Collier at quarterback and they'll certainly improve in those areas, but I didn't like the Bradley hire then and I don't like it even more now. It doesn't make any sense to transition from the spread to smash-mouth football when you have a smaller, average offensive line. If anything, it justifies remaining a spread team as the offensive line doesn't have to hold their blocks as long.

Just to show I'm not a complete downer, I will give the defense credit. With the Newport offense turning the ball five times and Nettleton having some long drives making the defense stay out on the field for long stretches, the fact they only gave up 20 points impresses me.
