The initial conferences have just been released, and almost all of Class 4A seems to be grouped perfectly.

And then you have these two staying put despite everything going on around them.

Simply put, should these two go ahead and switch conferences?

The numbers I'll be mining should give a proper answer.

x14113

First, I'll start off with Waldron's one-way milages and times (in minutes) if it stays in the 4A-7.

Mena: 36 (41)
Fountain Lake: 92 (108)
Arkadelphia: 101 (117)
Malvern: 104 (121)
Nashville: 106 (124)
Ashdown: 117 (133)
Bauxite: 121 (138)

Average Trip: 96.7 (111.7)

Comparing them to those if it switches with Robinson to the 4A-4:

Booneville: 28 (34)
Subiaco: 55 (67)
Ozark: 56 (67)
Dardanelle: 66 (77)
Pottsville: 74 (88)
Dover: 79 (99)
West Fork: 92 (93)

Average Trip: 64.3 (75)

Hmm, looks pretty clear where the Dogs are better off, but what about the Sens?

x14113

Well, here are the numbers for Robinson if it stays put.

Pottsville: 72 (69)
Dardanelle: 81 (79)
Dover: 85 (81)
Booneville: 101 (119)
Subiaco: 109 (109)
Ozark: 124 (116)
West Fork: 180 (161)

Average Trip: 107.4 (104.9)

Now, those if the Sens switch:

Bauxite: 28 (35)
Fountain Lake: 45 (61)
Malvern: 51 (54)
Arkadelphia: 73 (70)
Nashville: 133 (130)
Mena: 137 (152)
Ashdown: 153 (151)

Average Trip: 88.6 (93.3)

Again, a switch would be beneficial here.

One last question: How would the conferences themselves be affected?

x14113

To answer that, we'll need to see how the milage and time is affected for the other schools in both conferences.

Starting with the 4A-4:

West Fork: -88 (-68)
Booneville: -73 (-85)
Ozark: -68 (-49)
Subiaco: -54 (-42)
Dardanelle: -15 (-2)
Dover: -6 (+18)
Pottsville: +2 (+19)

Now, the 4A-7:

Bauxite: -93 (-103)
Malvern: -53 (-67)
Fountain Lake: -47 (-47)
Arkadelphia: -28 (-47)
Nashville: +26 (+6)
Ashdown: +36 (+18)
Mena: +101 (+111)

Overall, a switch would benefit, but there are some clear winners and losers here.

Now that I've dug the numbers out...smack away!

SUGARTOWN

I say put A. Baptist in the 7, Waldron in the 4 and Robinson in the 2-4A.
