Actually surprised Warren is ranked that high. Even more surprised they had first place votes.

I voted them number 7.

I voted Warren number 9. Too much youth for a run this year I'm afraid. We could be salty, but I'll hold reservation on that. Just shows how down 4A is this year.

Romeo

I didn't put Warren in my top ten. For me, its a wait and see approach. Were going to be a team loaded with sophomores with only one starter back on offense and three that were full time starters on defense. There's also a strong possibility a few freshmen may move up and play varsity.

Could be shades of 2005 or 2010. Could go either way.

Romeo

Shiloh Christian is my darkhorse pick to win the state title. I think they have the potential to get back to championship form this season.

I think Lassiter will be the big key to Warren's success. If he can develop into the QB that I believe he could, we might surprise people this year.

Yes he could. Sometimes even our more youthful teams are still dang good.

I saw the PG vs. Shiloh game online... they have some very good skill players at the QB and WR positions. They are very small though. They return a lot though. I think when it gets far a team may overpower them physically. They have some potential definitely.

TBone70

Dang, that was quick. Didn't get on the board last night. Looks good.

hawgfan15

Looks pretty good! Should be an unpredictable year in 4A. I have been waiting on this season for Nashville for a long time

I'm usually of a mind that a championship team is #1 until they're defeated, so I put Warren #1

That would make two of us and for the same reason.

WPWells

My one exception this year is Charleston in the 3A (kinda ironic) but I feel that Smackover is the odds-on favorite and Prescott is a clear #2. I did, though, place Charleston #3 for the same reasons previously detailed

So y'all rank every team based on the players they have coming back and your expectations for THIS year except for one....brilliant.

Depending on the brackets. I feel like they will meet in the championship.

this is the big boy football board, go talk about the midget 3a on down a little

Proud Buckaroo

Is that why Stuttgart struggles so much? Because this is "big boy football?"

Since 2012. They have won a total of 8 games.

Missed the playoffs once in 17 years, won 2 state titles in that span. If you think that's "struggling" you must think Smackover's program is horrible....no titles since the 40's? Ouch.

Proud Buckaroo

I guess you don't know how to take a joke... Lolll.

Yeah, because my feelings are so hurt. ::)

Mine would be if I had tried to put down someone's program and then realize I had no idea what I was talking about. But that probably happens often for you so I guess you're used to it....

Defending champs deserve to be preseason #1 only IF all the same players are returning. If all your studs graduate, then you've proven nothing yet. A preseason #1 ranking shouldn't be based on kids in college. Base it on what's coming back.

I can agree with this, but I also agree they are worthy of the top ten until proven otherwise

I don't know about that. But it's for certain the best football being played in 4a comes from the 7 and 8. Check your PM SJ.

bulldoghistorian

I've said for a while now that the 7-4A and the 8-4A are the SEC west and SEC east of highschool football in the state.

You can do that when you have a past that most schools would die for.

And as for the future, we're a year or so away making another title run. 😀
