Title: Star City vs Booneville
Post by: CounterPunch on September 08, 2012, 02:04:32 pm
I know nothing about Booneville except that they won last night. I will take SC by 7 just because.

Thoughts and comments?

Booneville is a young talented group. They run a smash mouth offense and a 3-4 defense. They are very well coached. Booneville by 3

I know one thing, I would not like the bus ride between SC & Booneville!

If they hold on to the ball they are tough. Ill go SC by 14.

I know nothing about SC... But am going with them by 10.  Booneville is young and a Lil sloppy with ball safety.  They run hard, but that will hurt them along with the bus ride.

SC 48- Bville-14 (if they have a kicker... 12 if they don't)

You need to get off the board and go practice football because y'all barely got by with a win against an average 3-a team. Once again, get off Internet message boards.

Can you tell me about Boonville? Have you seen them play? I see you have SC by a pretty large margin. Why?

dang, hotshot... who put you in charge here??

And CHG is hardly average. They were/are EXTREMELY disciplined and well coached.

You just need to go play football, not be on a message board bowing up after barely beating a 3-a team.

Things I want to see against Booneville so I feel comfortable about starting conference.

1. Win
2. With two returning linebackers, I want to see much improvement out of our defense on every aspect.
3. Offense has to avoid turnovers.

SC goes on the road and wins again. They should sneak in to the top 10.

They will match SC redneck for redneck....maybe even more.  There will be some very vicious, but fair hits in this game, but no teeth will be knocked out.

Firstly, I want you to understand that it is not a sin to use contractions. Secondly, "You folk in Monticello do that." is not a complete sentence by itself since "that" has no antecedent in the same clause. It is a subordinate clause that should be connected to your initial independent clause with a colon. However, you already knew that I'm sure.

It's not phantom, and I did not bring it up. Someone else started that when they asked why I was not on the board in a while. At that point I said I was in school, and when asked "for what?" I simply said working on a masters.

This is a football message board. I'm on a 2 inch wide cell phone, and grammar is the least of my concerns. How is your team doing?
Then why bring up a phantom masters degree?
It's not phantom, and I did not bring it up. Someone else started that when they asked why I was not on the board in a while. At that point I said I was in school, and when asked "for what?" I simply said working on a masters.
Not the way I remember it originally coming up.

Can anyone tell me anything about Booneville? I guess ill be going into the dark for this one. I know we have a pretty salty team but i have no clue about them. They beat Gravette pretty easily, but what does that say? HELP!

Young, talented team that relies on several Sophomore's like Star City.  They run the T offense and are completely smashmouth.  They can have the fumblitis at times.  If they hang on to the football you can expect a close ball game.

Yeah, I remember Jett Furneaux from my playing days. One of the best quarterbacks Ive ever seen. He was so tough to tackle. At the time, Michael Vick was gaining popularity as a freshman at Virginia Tech and Furneaux was drawing a lot of comparisions. I think his height kept him from getting major division I offers.

As soon as I saw Star City would be playing Booneville, I've been looking forward to it.  Booneville's always solid...even if they are young.  I'm glad SC is getting them early because I think they will get stronger as the season goes on and their youth gains more game experience.  SC's diversity on offense will prove to be too much for the Cats this time around.  SC 34 Booneville 21.

I keep waivering in this game for some odd reason.   I know Oldman said Star City is good this year and usually 9 times out of 10 he is right on the money but I have seen Booneville play in years past and there is something about the history of those bearcats that they just are tough to beat and pull out a win.

Good Luck to both teams!  If Booneville is running the ball in the rain, I'd almost go with the bearcats....

Booneville is traditionally poor in the wet/rain.  I'll take Booneville on a dry field and SC on a wet one.  I know it sounds funny running game struggling in the rain, but Booneville is usually smaller and quicker and rain messes that up.

For the people that know nothing about Booneville, here is all you need to know......They have tradition.  Run it down your throat, smash mouth football.  They might be young this year, but you better guarantee they are well coached and can still win.  Never count them out.

Good to see ya back! I'm not mad about you pale faces taking our land(I'm part cherokee just an Apache grad). And on another post I predicted a different outcome after I posted this one. I knew Booneville suffered an off season last year and that Star City is always tough especially at home so I picked them by 17. But on the 4A picks week 3 I picked Booneville by 6 and that's the one I'm going with!

Good to see ya back! I'm not mad about you pale faces taking our land(I'm part cherokee just an Apache grad). And on another post I predicted a different outcome after I posted this one. I knew Booneville suffered an off season last year and that Star City is always tough especially at home so I picked them by 17. But on the 4A picks week 3 I picked Booneville by 6 and that's the one I'm going with!
star city officiating worth 10 points.

Thanks Counterpunch, I know he'd love it if we found some way to listen to a radio station, broadcasting the game, next week.  We'll be paying attention - thanks again.
No problem. 99.9 fm southeast Arkansas. Don't know about anywhere else.

Booneville's games are played on 104.7. Well all the away games are and you can also listen to the booneville games online i forgot what the website is but if anyone would like to know just let me know and i'll find it and give it to you.

I agree that officiating at Star City is normally bad, but it's normally bad for both teams.  :-\  Safe travels for Booneville as they set out on the long drive from Logan County, and I hope Star City is a hospitable place for a good ole fashioned butt whoopin' tonight.  ;D

Booneville has actually had some very fast teams in the past.  Sometimes we get underestimated in that area.  But this year we don't have an abundance of it.  They have some really athletic sophs but they're young and it's gonna take a while for them to mature.  But like a typical Booneville team they play very hard and that alone should keep them in most games.

Why is everyone talking about Star city's refs? My god these same refs officiate all over southeastern Arkansas, not just Star City. Give me a break. And the last time Camden HG played at Star city we beat yall by about 30, so refs didnt matter.

Quite a ballgame. Both teams can be very proud.

The call-non call at the end was just part of it. You can't turn the ball over 3 times against a good team and expect to win.

As I expected our Bearcats never gave up though down three scores. A great battle all the way to the end.

I tip my hat to Star City and say "well done" and wish them good luck.

Booneville will learn from their mistakes and is ready to take on the 4-4A. Heads should be held high.

GO CATS GO!
