Why did he not run?

No clue. We didn't put Bruce or Cameron Griffith in it either, but to be fair, Coach Bucknam might have saved them for the DMR.

Jah-Nhai didn't triple jump today either. Some strange choices today. Alabama just was the better team the past two days.

Laquan not placing in the long jump and Travonn White (I guess injured?) not jumping hurt us too. You have to be healthy to win these meets. Congrats to the Crimson Tide.

AT

By the way, the 4x4 is under review and there could be an argument made that our 4 x 4 runner on the 2nd leg was cut off majorly. Not sure anything will come from it.

RATTLER43

AT

For those lurking, Arkansas Women have won the team title. Men will get 2nd unless someone is DQ'd after reviewing the 4 x 4 footage.

AT

Haha, the wrong team was DQ'd for us! LSU WAS DQ'd in the 4 x 4 for cutting us off, but that's the team we beat! Still, winning on a technicality is never as fun.

Arkansas will be SEC runner ups.

Top 5 finish for each.  Not enough qualifiers in enough events I think. Missing relays is huge.
If we get a title out of those qualifiers, it will be a masterful job of coaching and impressive performances by the athletes.

So glad to have this weekend free cause I'll be watching this plenty this weekend..... NCAA Indoors then the opening round of the NCAA basketball tournament back to back weekends is setting up for some great sports entertainment in a 2 week span.

AT

Great stuff, beach.

I think the women's path is a great showing by Payton/Taliyah in all their events and a few Georgia miscues.

The path for the men is more complicated, but I don't think it is impossible. Need a great day obviously and Florida can't do too well. Texas Tech has favorable projections.

The men's is going to probably go all the way down to the final event which is going to be good stuff. If anyone lays a dud, gets a DQ, or somebody runs a time out of their world it could turn the men's upside down and we may see a total long shot national champ for the team title.

AT

Exactly. Honestly, any of those top ten, and maybe past that, could conceivably win this meet if they have a great day.

I don't know when the last time I saw the men side this competitive.

Taliyah has grown to be my favorite on the women's team.... She truly has to be on the short list of best athletes walking around that campus no matter the sport, men's or women's..... if not the best athlete.

AT

No doubt, beach.

NCAA Indoor Champs Action:

In the Men's Heptathlon, Gabe Moore jumped 7.33m in the Long Jump, which is a PR. He sits in 6th place after 2 of 7 events.

In the Women's Pentathlon, Taliyah Brooks runs a 2:22.44 in the 800 meter run, a SB. Taliyah wins the pentathlon!!

AT

Taliyah scored 4572 points, which is a season best for her. Georgia girl scored 2 less than we thought. Nikki made the mile final. Things are going about as well as we could hope so far.

AT

Kenzo runs 6.66 and doesn't make the finals of the 60 meter dash. Men's title hopes are already dashed, probably.

AT

Nairn jumps 7.52m in the long jump and won't make the final for the men.

AT

Jada is about to run her 60 prelim. I only have her scoring half a point, so her missing isn't big in terms of going down in projections, but we might need her to make it to pass Georgia.

AT

Jada runs 7.28, but won't make the final. Great season from her.

AT

Obi doesn't make the final of the 400 with a time of 46.67. Not sure what happened to him later in the season.

RATTLER43

Vaulters were awesome with those PRs. Payton won hurdles! Nikki ran well.  Team came up short. Men peaked early in season.  But National Runnerup is acceptable...

AT

Sorry, I never wrapped up indoor and I want to for my sake.

Arkansas men finished in a tie for 13th while the Women were National Runner up (2nd)

beach bum

I went to the National Relay Meet at the U of A last night.... And in the individual women's 400 hurdles Sydney McLaughlin from Kentucky ran a blazing 53.60 as soon as I got there. I just looked at my buddies and went "wow, I think she could have even ran faster, look how string she looked finishing" .... I can't wait to see her win so many future medals for the USA. Her time was faster than 8 of the men who ran right after. She is unbelievable.

RATTLER43

Razorbacks 3rd and Lady Razorbacks tied for 6th at SEC championships.   Rare to bring home no hardware and even more rare to finish as low as 6th.  Testament to the strength of the SEC!

Men and Women had to leave some big names at home because of injury redshirts and even new injuries. Women never really had a chance. Men fought hard, but faltered when Cotton seemed to hurt his foot a bit (hopefully nothing serious) and Florida kept exceeding expectations.

I thought the men left it all out there.

My one critique: I'm a little tired of the "men are injured" every year. I believe that, but I can't help but wonder what are we doing to cause that? Seems more than a coincidence now.

RATTLER43

Agreed.  Seems to be a recurring theme.     But as a Hog fan, I am spoiled.   Used to vying for conference and NCAA championships yearly.  Hard to accept defeat when I see missed opportunities.
