If you take away a fake punt and hail mary...22 yards wouldn't surprise me

Jaybo

That was the yardage I was told as well. Dierks "D" was awesome in this one. Gurdon never gave up and the QB played hard as did #53, but the Outlaws were firing on all cylinders tonight.

Blue

Gurdon finished the night with 129 total yards 100 passing and 29 rushing. Gurdon had 42 yards rushing at the half and finished with 29 I don't know what Coach Bennett told this bunch at halftime but it was one of his best speeches as the Outlaws dominated the second half. Gurdon had 80 yards on their 2 scoring plays so other than those 2 plays Dierks owned the game. The Outlaws dominated the line of scrimmage the score is no indication of how lopsided this game was. Unusual route to 34 points for the Outlaws 3 TD's, 3 FG's and 2 safeties. Curtis Sebren hit from 42, 33 and 25 yards on FG's, Adam Bradshaw had a huge punting game keeping Gurdon pinned deep in their own territory all night. Sophomore RB Trindon McKinney had 33 rushes for 151 yards and 3 TD's. I'm proud of the defensive line play for the Outlaws they played the best game they have ever played Drew Adams, Tyler Mounts, Andy Tedder, Andy Sirmon and Dalton Ray all had big games tonight among others. I would like to say Austin Kirkpatrick the Gurdon QB is a absolute warrior Pace had him going both ways tonight and he took a pounding but this kid is a great ball player, I gotta say I'm glad he is a SR and we don't hafta face him again.

Mohawk 54

Congrats to the outlaws, they punch us in the mouth all night.  The kicker for you'll is a weapon.  Glad him and qb/punter are Sr's as well.  Good luck the rest of the year.

I'm hearing Gurdon had only 22 yards of total offense.
I'm sure they had more than that
Maybe 22 rushing yards, they did lose a lot of yards on sacks

Classof91

Not many saw yhis coming.  Hard to win every game.  Gurdon just needs to regroup and keep at it.  Congrats dierks.

This is the Outlaws biggest win since the finals run in 05. This team played the same physical defense as the 04 and 05 teams. Outlaws need to take one game at a time and not let someone slip up on us! Enjoy this boys but get back to work on Monday!

They just beat there biggest competition last night..will not be tested again until the playoffs..Besides the Outlaws & Go-devils the 7-2A  is down this year.

We need to prepare like we are facing Gurdon every game!

hoggystyle

If you get 100 yards in penalties every week (which the Outlaws do) everybody has the potential to be a test. They have to cut back on the yellow flags, because penalties at bad times can take away lots of scoring chances. With that being said, with the exception of penalties, they put on a show for the fans in the Hollar against a very good Gurdon team, and played a great game.

godgiven999

Great game by the outlaws. It's dosnt matter how fast a team is if they can't block up front! Gurdon never seems to catch a break. They seem to be lacking in one department every season. They will have great backs but no oline or a great line and no qb, or a great qb and no receivers or good offense and defense and horrible special teams. It would be great to put everything together for at least 1 season lol I was hoping coach Pace would get a state championship before he retires but looks like that's not going to happen

The Godevils are giving up a average of 12 points a game! They have given up 37 points this season but staters have allowed 16 points in 3 game. The 16 points were scored by Benton harmony grove which looks vastly improved and will be a playoff team this season. This is the fastest Godevils offense I've seen sense 98! If #3 or #4 get into open field forget about it! Plus Austin Kirkpatrick is a beast! Best QB Gurdon has possibly ever had. He will beat you running and throwing.
Godevils by 21!!!
Not quite how it went huh..

Jaybo

I agree with Hoggy. The Outlaws one department that really needs cleaned up is the yellow rags that they get every game. If they can do that, they'll make things a lot easier on themselves. They just need to keep their heads on straight and keep working hard each week and they'll be fine. Prepare well each week so that nobody creeps up on you. I would also agree that the defensive effort last night looked like the '04-'05 crew that came through.

tacklethis...

Did Gurdon loose some kids from when this team was in 9th grade? Seems like they were unbeatable then and had more numbers than last night.

Jaybo

I agree tacklethis... They seemed unstoppable back in the junior high years, but I think the Outlaws grew up quite a bit since then as well. How is #8 doing from any of the Gurdon fans? He got hurt late in the game and it looked serious. I couldn't tell if it was a knee or ankle. I pray it wasn't as serious as it looked. Hope he's back on the field very soon. Good luck to Gurdon with the rest of your season. You guys will make a lot of noise in the playoffs!

hawgfan15

Very impressive win! Great job outlaws!

cuz

Very impressive Outlaws......Congrats

sixthman

People may have called Dierks the underdog in this game but the kids did not see themselves as one. This is a very good group of boys the outlaws have this year. They are confident and intense...and they expect to win every game.

knightpride

Good win Outlaws!  Could be a rematch somewhere down the line!  Two very solid teams that should continue to improve and be in the post season!  Best of luck!

Success at the Junior High Level is not necessarily directly transferrable to the Senior High Level.

Keep in mind, Gurdon is 3-1 and mercy ruled two opponents on the road so it is not like the Jr high success did not translate, as you say. That having been said, Dierks took Gurdon to the woodshed Friday night.

Jaybo

I think I should be more clear in what I meant. It has translated well for Gurdon from Jr. High to Sr. High. Dierks was the second best to them at that time. What I'm saying is everyone has grown and learned in those 3 years. Dierks finally caught up with Gurdon in that time and finally pushed past them. Gurdon is still a fine football team and going to go far in the playoffs and is a top level player in 2A. The Outlaws just finally got their number this time around and have become a top level player as well.

oldoutlaw7

I dont read Hootens and all that crap. They dont have a clue about what goes on down here. although they did have a representative here friday night. Hats off to Hootens though for picking the go-devils to win. the outlaws never believed it. Still cant believe Pace would play AK both ways in the biggest regular season game of the year. Bennetts alternating with Teddar, Mckinney and Bradshaw sure pays off. I get a birds-eye view every friday night of the opposing teams coaching staff. I commend gurdons staff on constantly coaching and not spending all their time crying to the officials. Its the only time ive seen it all year-centerpoint being the worst. I dont wanta meet gurdon again in the play-offs. They still scare me. Good luck Go-Devils.

My hats off to AK. He never lost his cool. Would have been easy with the amount of abuse he was getting.

Is AK #47  :o

Just My Opinion

He is # 15 -- the QB and played LB as well vs. Dierks. Kid ran for his life all night.

Jaybo

He is a heck of a player. He'll navigate Gurdon to a lot of wins this season.

The_Devil_Himself

Pace had to play Kirkpatrick both ways. The starter at that linebacker position was out and so was the backup.

Jaybo

Well he did a heck of a job stepping in and playing his butt off all night. He's a gamer.

KOJACK

He should be a 2 way starter anyway.

knightpride

Didn't see the game but heard a lot about it.  Glad to see Outlaws get the win.  Gotta say AK must have played well for Gurdon. Good talent  good kid!!!!! Best of Luck!

You're entire premise that I am nothing more than an excuse making crybaby that never gave Dierks proper credit for beating Gurdon has just been debunked.....and that is the best you can come up with?

The_Devil_Himself

And I would have gladly left it at that.

Carpenter said 20 days off is not a good idea. Said the Dragons were way rusty. Read it yourself on hootens! They could have beat you worse!

If the shoe was on the other foot you would call it making excuses.

This thread has become the new Groundhog Day. I keep waiting on Bill Murray to post something on here. You guys realize over 40 days had gone by before this thread got a new post on it?

If you get bored this next few days, go back and count up how many posts accused me of never giving Dierks credit for how the played, when in fact I did so within the first two posts. And lo and behold, it was in fact a Dierks poster who pointed out that Kirkpatrick played both ways that night while gigging Pace. I just pointed out why.

And then comes the incessant gloating.
