Do you know that for sure or just wishful thinking?
Heard that maybe Star City girls job might be opening up. Not sure if coach is retiring, moving to admin, or just wants out, but heard that at tournament this week.
Also hear that Cornings boys coach is retiring.

Do you know if they are planning on giving that job to the asst they have there?
stuttgart boys is now open
I don't know anything about Star City or Corning jobs, just that these were jobs I was told about at different state tournaments this week. All I know is exactly what I posted. I am not familiar w/either situation, but know both coaches a little bit. I haven't spoken w/either one of them to find out.
I do know McCrory shafted their Boys coach in order to create a rule to get rid of girls coach. So, I'm not to sure that is a ring I'd toss my hat into any time soon.

What kind of rule could they create to get rid of a coach?
Making the rule that coaches have to live in the district

What kinda housing is available in McCrory? I would think it would be a bit risky for a coach to move in and buy a house in that area when they might be looking to leave in just a couple of years.
stupidest thing i've heard in a while. What is a coaches wife works in another city an hour and half away? Wouldn't it make sense to try and find a place in the middle between the two jobs so each has a 45 minute drive.
If they really do have this clause then they will really limit theirselves on coaches.
McCrory would not be a very desirable job regardless. They have never treated their basketball coaches right and the talent level year in and year out is not very good.
Why is McCrory such a bad job?
Coaches contracts have a "live in the school district" clause...
[/quote]
If that's the case then why did they hire folks who live outside of district to begin w/?
I don't know about this case but I've seen contracts that state that they will move into the district within 2 years of signing their original contract.

McCrory is a town of 1800, they aren't turning out teachers every day...have to look outside the district for employees.
Not what I'm saying.
When they interviewed and hired the guy, did they bother to ask if he would move into district? Better yet, did they tell him the job was his as long as coach & spouse moved to McCrory?
A lot of schools have a clause that states coaches must live in district. I think its a great rule.
Quote from: Missco on March 16, 2013, 11:52:11 am

It certainly is better on the coach as far as travel is concerned. As long as he/she is doing their job though I don't see where it's remotely relevant.
It certainly limits the schools chances on hiring. Why limit yourself to those that are willing to move? We are in a horrible market right now for housing. What if the potential coach can't sell his current house?
Make all the teachers live in the district. Not just the coaches. And the cooks. And the bus drivers. And the custodians.
Guy Perkins boys open
Where is guy Perkins coach going?
I think he is just coaching girls next year. He has been doing both
I thought hutchcraft had only been doing girls for a couple years now?
I think that is right. But I guess he is shifting his focus to the girls
So apparently GP boys is about to be on a down cycle of talent...how else would you interpret that?
Damon Teas coached the boys this year, now with the Superintendent situation, the Principal got the Superintendent job, and Teas is going to be the Principal. So now the boys job is open.
Oden has two jobs listed. Caddo Hills girls is listed.
Didn't McCrory have both jobs listed last year? That's a huge red flag.

anyone heard of anything else coming open? there should be a decent amount start popping up in the next couple of weeks
BIC reassigned their boys coach night before last, not sure if they will promote from within, or look outside. I suspect they will make a push for Bill Taylor to come back.

Quitman Girls?
White county central boys is open
Salem boys
What happened to Quattlebaum at white county?
It was Starkey at white county. I'm not sure where he went
I think Quattlebaum was assisting with Farris at white county. Starkey is administration at Rose Bud.
2 starkeys at white county. One is head boys coach and other is admin
Donald starkey is AD. Danny is boys coach
Who's on first?
Buffalo Island Central will have a new boys coach next year!!!
Who will it be?
say Eoff is going to teach 7th&8th grade Math & Coach baseball, Alot of rumors right now. I can see Fowler taking it since his girls are done & he has 1 boy playing & 1 coming up & Williford getting the girls since he has them in softball. Then you hear a Legend is coming back but i don't think we will pay the money for that. So i don't know who it will be BUT it was time for a change.
gotcha. wonder how long before a decision will be made?
Don't have a clue. I would like for them to take some time & make a good choice instead of rushing it.
We need our program built back up. We need some one that will take Pride in the program. It is a hard position due to the tradition that was once there. We do have some talent & talent coming up. Only time will tell.
ya, hopefully they make a good hire.
Both McCrory jobs have been filled from what I hear.
quitman girls coach got the mccrory girls job. who got the boys?
Not sure If the Coach that has taken the boys job has informed his team yet so I'll give it a few days before I mention it.
I heard it was a coach that use to be at Cross County? Not for sure though.
there are a few jobs out there that, once they get filled, should open up other jobs. HarBer, Valley, and Stuttgart will hopefully make hires soon so that the ball will get rolling on new openings. Seems like everything is at a standstill waiting on these jobs

at what point do people quit hiring him? He knows basketball, but he doesn't treat people, be it players or assistants, very well.
There may not be enough room in the spacious Valley arena for his and Jenkins egos. Check that-- there absolutely won't enough room for both of those two. Poor kids at Valley.
Sanders did get the girls job at McCrory, they didn't tell me a name if they hired a boys coach.
Quattlebaum is a history teacher & softball coach at White County. Danny Starkey, the boys basketball coach is leaving to be the AD & assist prin at Rose Bud. Donald Starkey is AD & head girls coach at White County. Farris got out of coaching.
HarBer has finalist.
Hate to hear about Big O at BIC. Glad he's stickin w/baseball. Would be much better job after folks stop living in past and let the Taylor family live w/o always having people bug them about reliving the glory days.
Great to hear that Bateman is taking over the reigns in Tuck! New job, new town, to kid...should make for an exciting time in the Bateman house!
Coach west from Maynard has accepted the boys job at McCrory.
I just read this blog, I doubt they could get away with a rule that says coaches have to live in the district if the coach is already employed. That would have to be a part of his original contract.

He won't make more than the principal at Valley. They will be looking for a new principal if so and that doesn't even take into account the fit that Jenkins would throw.

Anybody know anything about the Quitman Girls job?
From what I understand, Dierks boys and girls will be open. (may be 1 job) The board decided to reassign coaching assignments due to budgeting. The boys coach was not rehired. (first year coach named Graves). The job was offered to Owens who was the girls coach. He was going to coach both boys and girls. Today he announced that he had taken a job in Caddo Hills which leaves boys and girls both without a coach.
I don't know if they plan to hire one person who 2 people, but there will be at least one opening.

Exactly right, Eagle20! And with these kids background and with Aau every summer, it SHOULD be easy. And that goes for any kid that is talented. I've seen many talented players at Greenbrier quit, concentrate on football, get worse, or move to a different school to play ball over the past 10 years. It happened. Spoke w/one of the other coaches just last week and they said he was given 3 yrs to move into district & they called him in at the very end of hoop season and asked if he had moved yet and he said no, so the Sup told him he was done after school year.

Any single "A" schools around Harrison coming open?
I believe right now they are all full. Haven't heard of any openings and I work with guys that have kids in almost all the "A" schools in the area.
Kingston Girls is open..
I've heard it has been offered to Pat Summers of Lead Hill, strictly rumor, no confirmation on my end
Summers took it which leaves the Lead Hill Job open...but I think it has the softball job tied into it as well, or could anyway...

Cude does a great job, I'd hate for him to leave there but I know he is making the move for his family...have to respect someone who puts his family first.
Will Riverview ever get anybody to stay there for any length of time???
Who is the Super. at Lead Hill now?
So.... Lead hill girls
Benton boys
Carlisle boys
Riverview boys
There doesn't seem to be much movement within the coaching ranks this summer...

Getting close to the summer start in Aug. , I would expect all to be filled in the next 2 weeks
Eureka Springs is currently looking for a head Sr girls basketball coach. Other sport may be softball. Certification needs to be PE/Health. PM me if interested. Serious inquires only please.
Where did rambo go?
Lead Hill hired Rocky Dodson for their girls coaching position.
Where was Rocky Dodson at?
So they traded in a dude named after one Stallone movie for another?

Where was Rocky Dodson at?
He was at Cotter prior to last year and did not coach anywhere last year
Good coach and person. Lucky to have him
Why did he lay out a year? What happened at Cotter?
seems to always be some last minute movements before school starts.... any movements out there?
I heard Eldorado had a girls job open....not sure about it though
ok, Im not sure why but it always comes down to the first week of school and some jobs open up for whatever reason.
What is actually open at this point?
Any rumors of anyone getting the boot mid season? Seems to happen a few times a yr.
Anyone stepping down after this year anywhere?
.
Good friend of mine is a mid term grad (december) in health/p.e./ coaching certified that will soon be looking for a job. An assistant job or smaller class head job in either basketball or baseball/softball probably. Any one know of anything that may be open mid year??? (I realize not many come open mid yr but im just trying to help him out)
It's time for the coaches jobs to start popping. AAA has three BB jobs listed.
Dumas - boys
Hughes - boys
Blevins - girls
What's the scoop on these jobs?
Blevins girls was pretty bad this year....
Hughes won a state title 5? years ago....Usually pretty solid....AND they drop down to 1A next year, but then again the top of 1A can usually go toe-to-toe with the top of 2A....and they'll be in the same conference as one of the most dominant teams in 1A(Bay)....
Geez, just looked at the conference on Google maps. That's a brutal conference road schedule if you are in Hughes. Bay is closest game at 1 hour 15 minutes. All conference games are about 2 hour drive or more.

Wow! Just looked at maxpreps and it looks like Blevins girls are losing by 40, 50 and 60 points per game. Ouch! Anyone know what their Jr. High girls look like?

I don't believe there is a whole lot coming up with the younger age groups either. It will be a tough job, they haven't been successful in a long time. Someone will have to be willing to put in a few years of hard work to even get them back to a competitive level again.
The Yellville boys job is going to be open. It was in the Baxter Bulletin that Wallace is retiring.
If it was the BB then it's probably actually a girls job at Flippin, they don't usually get their stories right

08 I believe they made state....Lost in the Region finals at Guy at Poyen that year...Might have been 09. I'll always remember that game, cause there was a "fan" from Poyen yelling so loudly that they could probably hear him on the other end of the gym, "Make them go Left, They'll give the ball to you, they can't go left...over and over..." Even after Blevins drilled a few threes after going left....

I believe it was the 08-09 season, if I remember right the next year Blevins best post player and guard both moved to Bradley and it was all down hill from there!

I was told over the weekend that Hughes is having all kinds of issues both financial and student numbers. They were only AA in the past because they had football. They no longer have football and that is why they have moved to 1A this cycle. They have been close to the 350 number and may not make it much longer because of that and finances. Sad....lots of good teams there over the past years.
Hughes went under the 350 number in 2012-13, they went back above it in 2013-14....Can't tell you about the financial issues...might check into it tomorrow if I get bored(Happens often lol)
