I was going to submit my picks earlier, but a tab refresh ate my work.

where's auto-copy when you need it?   ::)

Dardanelle (10) @ Prairie Grove
I anticipated the Lizards' last game to be a close one, and knocking down a potential game winning 2PC is about as close as you can get. As much buzz as they're getting, though, it doesn't quite say as much about Dardy as it may seem at first glance, if only because Charleston just might have been a hair overrated by most in the preseason. This week's batch of Tigers were expected to pose an even bigger threat, but falling short to a less-than-impressive Farmington side is just the latest result to raise questions on its whole conference.

Danville (14) @ Dover
Apparently, few remembered the memo that this was supposed to be Senior Night at the Hillside! The Pirates get a shot a gauging the depth of the 3A-4. Getting a goose egg from Atkins is not a good look considering recent history, and considering the games to come, Dover will need a win if only to get their groove back. The Little Johns let a win over Lamar slip away in teeth-grinding fashion, and they have no intention of repeating that verse.

Elkins (35) @ West Fork
Allowing 28 points isn't the best look on defense, but scoring 48 is an eye-catcher no matter who you are. Fortunately, the Elks have an opportunity to fine-tune their kinks in a looking-drier-by-the-day Mud Pit with few concerns. Elkins may not be seriously challenged again until Week 7.

Hot Springs @ Mena (14)
Now that the Bearcats have received a shellacking courtesy of Prescott, they should keep a bit of an even keel against a Trojan side adjusting to a new system. Perhaps a bigger benefit is a two-week preparation for its conference opener.

Clarksville @ Ozark (14)
Even with all the bright spots against Booneville last week, the events in the middle of the 4Q ought to be a good teaching moment for the Hillbillies going into the rest of the season. Fortunately, with Pottsville and Dardy stealing the spotlight this week, this should ease some of Ozark's preseason pressure as they work out the early kinks. Nonetheless, I can think of at least seven more teams that think they have a shot against the Hillbillies, starting with a Panther side intent on maintaining the momentum from last week's shutout over Paris. With virtually the entire offense intact, however, the home offense should keep the guests at arm's length in a shootout.

Pottsville @ Booneville (21)
Last week's win over Newport is a clinic in the Apaches' style of play; in possessing the ball for over three quarters of the game, they scored enough points to put their otherwise-beleaguered defense in a position to provide the support needed to preserve the win. If they wish to repeat this feat in the Royal Hollow, however, they will need to establish their dominance in the trenches. Considering the Bearcats' proven track record on that front, this will be a tall order indeed.

Lamar (21) @ Subiaco
Lavaca should be lucky they picked the Trojans over a different 4A-4 school, lest they be ravaged further. The Warriors, fresh off their comeback over Danville, need only worry about not overlooking Subi, however.

Paris @ Waldron (7)
It's pretty hard to gauge a team's strength when you keep getting pounded on the scoreboard. When two teams with such lopsided records face each other, it might as well be a flip of the coin. This is the best chance for the Bulldogs to get an OOC win.
