REDDIE FOOTBALL EARNS PRESEASON NATIONAL RANKING

After recording its best record in 20 years last season, Henderson State earned a No. 23 Preseason National Ranking in the Lindy's Sports Magazine Top 25 Division II Poll.

The Reddies finished 8-3 last season, finishing the season unbeaten at home and tied for third in the Gulf South Conference.

Henderson State returns a large nucleus of last year's team with nine offensive starters and seven defensive starters.

Garett Manning, who rushed for 617 yards and threw for 1363 yards will return for his junior year at quarterback, while first-team All-GSC and 2nd Team All-American Kurt Kutscher anchors the offensive front line.

Devon Hughes was named to Lindy's Preseason First-Team Defensive Team. The junior cornerback led the nation in passes defended with 22 pass breakups and five interceptions.

The Reddies report for fall workouts Aug. 3, and will open the season at the Round Rock Classic against Texas College, Aug. 25 in Round Rock, Texas with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
