Some really really good games first round...

BHG vs Harding  who do u got?
Marianna vs Jesseville
Mayflower vs Cedar Ridge

jr17

Harding.
Jessieville.
Gonna be a Homer and say mayflower. But honestly I have no idea

BigMan15

Mayflower could do it depends on what mayflower u get..BHG if healthy could beat Harding..and yes i think jesseville as well.

WPWells

I'll take Harding, Jessieville, and Cedar Ridge (in the best game of the tournament) Tough draw for the Eagles though

BigMan15

Good thing we arent doing top ten anymore because who knows..i have no idea after ecs..but hey jesseville played them good.

neds

I would go along w/12th , but the last game will be a pick em after the way CR played last night. It just opens the door to doubt. Mayflower will be as good as Jerry plays.

Batman44

Cedar Ridge not getting much respect lately. Hope they are firing on all cylinders Thursday night, and rest of the way.

I think that is what happens when you lose, plus Mayflower is pretty good and has experience doing well in Regionals and State.  A few weeks ago, most would have expected an easy win from Cedar in this matchup. Now not as much. I would say it is a toss-up, will not be surprised either way it goes.

I agree that Mayflower could win but the reason that they have experience doing well in regionals in state is flawed.  Remember, while Mayflower was finishing 2nd in regionals and losing in the 2nd round at state, Cedar Ridge was capping off their second consecutive state championship.  So, I would think Cedar Ridge has a little more experience with doing well in regionals and state.

My predictions for first round:

Episcopal
Cedar Ridge
Harding
Jessieville

I wasn't comparing their post season experience to Cedar's, which speaks for itself, just saying that they have been there and had some success the past few years. They won't be out of their element like teams that haven't been there in a while can sometimes be. I just don't think previous post season experience will have any impact on this game.
I have not seen Cedar play this year; by what I have read and heard, I don't think they are quite as strong as the past two years, so that's why I think it will be a close game.

Really surprised Harding Academy beat CR. 2A BIC squashed Harding in their matchup a couple weeks ago.

I agree and it would not surprise me if Mayflower won.  Mayflower vs. Cedar would be a great state tournament game (much less an opening round region game) and then the winner gets to square off with Episcopal.  This region is going to be fun.

I think everyone has those nights.  The funny part was I think they came back and beat Jonesboro Westside the same week who is a decent 4A team.  I haven't seen either BIC or Westside so I don't know how they compare.  I just knew Westside had done ok in their conference.

HA is really good when they play close to home the same way BIC is when their at home. Rosebud is a 15 min drive from HA campus in the same county so BHG will get them basically at their house I give BHG about 1 out of 10 chance. I think westside played them at HA I could be wrong though. HA is always prepared and WELL coached.

neds

+1 , Brad is like a college coach in that it is all about peaking at the right time.

when u beat HA 2 times and then have to play them a third u better put in some different plays are their coach will pick it apart. CR will be ready for Mayflower

jr17

Well I'll tell ya. Mayflower just lost a game they definitely should have won against jessieville. Daly having another huge game. If you have not seen him play (anyone from the 2 conference) I would advise you to go watch him opening game. He is highly overlooked.

METFAN44

Agreed.......The kid from Jessieville is definitely fun to watch! If you guys get the chance i would highly recommend it!

Are the games cancelled or what?

I think the games from yesterday are being played today.  Everything pushed back one day.

I had heard they were trying to get the finals on Sunday? Maybe AAA has to approve or Rosebud? So maybe that didn't fly.                                                                                   The winner of Region 2 will play Tuesday night at 8:30 in State at Cossatot River HS which is in western Oklahoma I think.

I am reading that other regional sites have apparently approached AAA about Sunday, and they may get ok

AAA just updated brackets and Regions 2 and 4 will play finals on Sunday, and Saturday semi-final  times are earlier in the day.

HorseFeathers

That's crazy that they are playing on Sunday...I changed the times in the first post to Monday, cause I just assumed they wouldn't be okay with Sunday games without another postponement

neds

Interesting decision. I guess fairness on rest time was the reason.

Tough loss for rose bud... Was a 12 point game at halftime, but episcopal just had more horses and wore the ramblers down.. Added note: Rose Bud stalled the ball and scored a lot while attempting to slow the game down. Probably the only reason it was a close game at halftime. Hats off to episcopal college for there talent and ability to take over the game

I don't mean to sound condescending here but I was impressed with how RB had a good game plan, stuck to it,  and played with confidence. They were well coached  and put up a good fight. Just not enough firepower.

Cedar Ridge, a team pegged by many to be a clear #2 in the state who had (supposedly) the best player in the state, will not advance to the state tournament

jr17

12th man. You are correct. But Reaves is legit man. He could start for any team in the state. Yeah I said it.

Jessieville pulled it out with one starter out. Looks like it may be all conference 5 teams qualifying for state tournament. Go Mayflower!
