Home field and first round byes.

I know this is something that no one has really discussed yet, but I'm curious about which conferences will get the first round byes and home field advantage during the playoffs? In 2011 the 6aa and 8aa got the byes, in 2012 the 7aa and 3aa got byes, and then instead of the 4aa and 5aa getting it last year the 6aa and 8aa got it again. Come semi final time it could play a huge role if weather conditions along with field conditions are such a huge factor as last year, if you have two 1 seeds matched up, the team beneath the other on the bracket will be on the road.  Was curious how the 4aa and 3aa were skipped last year? Would like peoples thoughts on this.
