Girls varsity benefit game

Bentonville's biggest weakness this year will be at keeper.  They found themselves without one early in season and have had to recruit a freshman to learn the position.  However, breaking through Margaret Powers and their strong defensive line will be next to impossible.  Shoot often and from any distance, follow your shots all the way to goal and you could come away with a win.

Cabot 2   Greenbrier 0  (boys)

Cabot looked sharp with quick ball movement and switching the field.  Many shots but too many high or wide.  Scores came in the second half from William Hidalgo on a free kick outside the 18.  Later Mark Reider pushed up from his defensive line to receive a nice ball in the 18 and then served a low driven pass in front of the goal for Justin Wagnon to put it in the back of the net.  Greenbriar's keepers had some good saves on the night while their offense did make some good counter attacks but could not keep possession long in the attacking third. 

Cabot 1  Greenbrier 1 (Girls)  only got to see the last minutes of this game.

Cabot tournament next Saturday.  Valley View, Pulaski Academy, Rogers

Don't forget it wasnt cabot that actually scored. It was an own goal.

Don't forget that Valley View didn't even get a shot on goal. And that Cabot had multiple. The own goal was crossed into the danger area and gotta lucky deflection.

I'm pretty sure the season started 2-28 so everything since is regular season.

I only ask because you said they played Central's JV girls.  JV teams are not allowed to play in benefit games according to the letter of the law.

Cabot forgot how to possess the ball.  Russellville played the better game of soccer and took advantage of set pieces from corner kicks.  Third goal was a great shot from 30 yards out on the left.

Attention all 7/6A soccer fans:

Elsewhere on the soccer forum, I have started a standings thread for the 7/6A conferences.  At this time, I do NOT plan to put the entire conference schedule in the thread but I would like to build this as we go.

In other words, as conference games occur, I will add the games and results to the thread and update the standings. 

As you post results to this thread, would you please indicate whether or not the game played was a conference game?

Regarding the varsity girls 7-0 victory of NLR over Van Buren...Does anyone know if NLR is that good or Van Buren is that bad? I did not hear anyone talking about the NLR girls before the season began. It would be hard for many teams to score 7 goals if the other team was not on the field.

Van Buren boys were quicker, stronger, and more determined to win every ball. NLR just didn't compete.

Okay, let me state that just a bit differently....all the conference scores that I know of (i.e. those posted to one of the FF threads) have been posted....

If you hear of a final score, please post it to the appropriate thread and I will be happy to add it to the standings.
