Today is Count Pulaski Day!

Kazimierz Michał Władysław Wiktor Pułaski (shortened and Anglicized to Casimir Pulaski) was a true patriot.

My namesake (for the purposes of FF) was born on March 6, 1745.  The man who became known as the father of American cavalry was born in Poland and traveled to the USA on the urging of Ben Franklin in order to aid our revolution.

He even saved George Washington and stayed with the Army at Valley Forge.  He was mortally wounded while rallying retreating troops at the Siege of Savannah. He is one of only seven people to be awarded honorary American citizenship.

So hoist a glass to a patriot.
