Siloam beat Alma 3-0.   Thought this one would be tighter.

Read the paper and Booneville player was noted as having 44 digs?!!  I did not see 44 digs between both teams.  Someone please explain to the stat keeper and the coach the definition of a dig.  Just because you pass the ball or pick-up the hits in your direction does not qualify be listed as a dig.   ;D ;D ;)

Russellville over Greenwood & MSM.

I see that Russellville is doing very well this year.  What is their record and I assume they are in first place in their conference?

Booneville overcomes the loss of two starters due to illness, including all-state libero Hannah McClung, and a 20-minute delay because the lights went out, and wins in 5 at West Fork (25-13, 27-25, 20-25, 18-25, 15-10).

Then a whole bunch of stat keepers are wrong.

When Paris beat us last week, their libero, Highfield, was credited with 50 digs. In three sets.

And I have seen numerous other articles crediting players from various schools with 20+, 30+ and one in the 70s if I recall correctly.

Most 3A Coaches couldn't keep correct stats, much less little Suzy's mom.  It's just High School VB - don't invest too much thought into it.  Adam 12, how far you live from Greenwood or Russellville?

I'm a Booneville guy and have been to a few GW matches this season on nights we have not played.

And I agree with your point. I'm the one who does the stats for Booneville and I take responsibility for that 44 number. If I'm defining it wrong, so be it. The way I define it helps our coaching staff when things like last night happened and we had to go to another libero because our top one was out sick.  It helped us choose which girl was going to wear the white shirt last night.  And I think that girl did a super job.

Russellville plays Greenwood Oct 14th, at Greenwood.
Conway goes to Russellville Oct 2nd.
I think you'd appreciate watching the talent level.

I have seen Russellville and Marion both first hand.  Marion is fundamentally sound and plays well together but they aren't overly big and Russellville's power will be hard to slow down if they get it going.  It can be hard to predict  teams that dominate their conference seasons on how that will translate over to the tournament but Russellville to me is the clear favorite. Jonesboro and Mtn Home are also decent but clearly below Marion at this point.

The biggest descrepancy I see in jr high and high school stats is the number of blocks.  A lot of folks must think a touch at the net is a block.

One of the GW matches I saw was against Conway. The talent level is indeed sky high.  That 6-4 kid for Greenwood is something to watch already and she is a sophomore.

Even the JV matches at that level show players with very good ability. One of GW's current JV players played here in jr. high and had a good chance to be a starter for us as a sophomore this season until circumstances forced her family to move to GW.

I wish I could watch more of the higher classes as you recommend Valley, but Booneville has games on both those days. In fact the 16th is a big one against Mansfield at home.
