Was told by a reliable source that the announcement will be made today or tomorrow

June 7-8 in Conway at Hendrix College. Presented by the Arkansas Fastpitch Coaches Associations

Sweet

The best I can find.

The teams are picked, players should be contacted soon by their coaches for the Jr./Soph. Classic: June 7&8 in Conway.

Dinger47

I have not seen the rosters yet but my daughter was chosen and has been notified. Her softball coach was also chosen, Steele from Smackover. Other than that I don't have any additional information.

Sweet

I guess they consider it top secret info.

Dinger47

I am guessing the same thing. Only information I have is what my ex-wife has shared from daughter's Coach.  Which is not much.

Does anybody know how these teams are selected? I have asked several people and nobody seems to know the answer. I have been told that coaches send in nominations but not all of them are taken?

gamechanger11

That would be correct. And there are hundreds of good soph/jr so yes so do not get taken.

New Dawg

The "selection" process is very fair. Kids are nominated by coaches at a conference meeting and ranked by coaches. The coaches then submit the nominees to a committee and teams are selected based on availability and the kids are contacted to see if they are willing to play. A lot of people get upset because their players don't get selected but often it is because coaches don't nominate their kids.

That is why alot that maybe should be in the game are not.  But obviously if you have a team with alot of good Jr/Soph you cant nominate them all.  Some get left out unfortunately.  Doesnt make them less deserving though, or the ones that got chosen.

LowerAR

Many don't make it just because their coach didn't push the issue. Others don't because other coaches don't think they deserve it or they are pushing their own player. You can never tell which, but it is sad when one is left off that everyone knows should be there. I hate this stuff. My daughter received many honors through her career but never made one of these games. It hurt too, so that's why I hate it.

My daughter is sitting through the same thing right now.  Our team started 6 Sophomores, 1 Jr. and 2 Seniors, made it to the Qtr Finals at State and nobody is playing in this game....only 1 Senior made All-State.  Not a lot of hardware for a seriously good team.

New Dawg

Wow. I am starting to think we need to give them all a trophy instead of teaching them the intrensic values that team sports are supposed to teach. How have we become a society that perpetuates the idea that everyone is entitled. Some teams got multiple players at this event and most got none. There were several teams that made it to state tourneys that had no players representing them. Once again the reason is either the coach didn't nominate or could it be that there were better players on lesser teams. This event is about showcasing talent. Every player nominated by coaches was considered. The Fastpitch coaches Association does a real good job of selecting the players. This year's group was definitely the most talented group they have had.

Sounds like another "somebody done somebody wrong" song to me. Sometimes parents can be blind to the fact that their child is just not as good as they think they are. This is a very talented group that is assembled each year. It's not about how good the team was during the season. It's about personal performance as seen through the eyes of educated coaches. A lot of the girls select d came from very good teams while others may be the only very good player from a below average team. There are several different colleges represented at this event every year. All in all its a very good way for these young ladies to showcase their talents in front of potential future coaches.

Coming from someone with no dog in the fight, the system is very flawed and political just like everything else in this world and needs to be fixed.  Like I said before, there are no girls selected that are not deserving, but many left out that were equally or more deserving. No different than most of our so called "elections".

Like I always say skydiver, "No good deed goes unpunished".

My daughter was good enough that she received 6A Allstate, 6A South All-Conference, Union Co. Softball Player of the Year, Finalist for Scholar Athlete of the Year, graduated with honors at El Dorado and signed a National Letter of intent to play Softball at HSU. She was also offered chances at several other Div. I, II and III schools, so you think I'm blind to how good my daughter is huh? Just because your coach pushed your daughter through the process and some are to lazy to try; that doesn't make your daughter better. I will not degrade players who made it by saying they should not be there because I don't know them all, but I will say making this team or any of these post season teams is way more about your coach than how they played. Some coaches are good and they care; if you have one of those you better be thankful because some are not. A coach maybe good and care about his players, but a group of coaches are like congress; all are trying to get what they want. These games are not about showcasing anything, they are there to award players who work hard the opportunity to play and be recognized. As far as someone doing someone wrong, well it happens everyday, but what is sad is people who make light of that and think that by being funny, that it is OK. Only by caring about injustice, can it be stopped. This sport should be about the girls and their teams; period.
