I feel like Gosnell's Trent Middleton and their defense could keep the runs down, but I'm not sure they could get the hits and runs they would need to beat Harding.  And that's saying they can get out of the 1st round.  I would feel way better about a run if they would've lost to Harrisburg and been the 4 seed instead of the 3.

Warren vs Elkins should be a dandy!

Personally would be against it.  Too many kids at home alone on that day off. Parents would really have to alter their work schedules.  Plus, in the rural areas the kids would be getting home way after dark in the winter.  I don't want my 5-11 yr old kids on the bus in the dark.

For the 5A State Tournament -
Interesting Matchups for the Boys Side:

1. Valley View vs Vilonia
Valley View has always been a consistent team in the 5A East and fully deserve their second seed spot; however, it should still be said that they have not shown their dominance and class over other 5A East teams like Vilonia have shown towards some of their 5A Central rivals. The question with Vilonia will be dependent about what type of form they show up to the state tournament with, they've been brilliant and resilient in some games (most notably against both of their games against Pulaski Academy where PA truly had to work extra hard to earn both of their tight victories) and terribly inconsistent and dull in other games (especially when they were hammered 6-0 by LRCA or recently lost 2-0 against Jacksonville). As a result, this game has the potential to be close, but its more dependent on how Vilonia plays more than anything else.

2. Van Buren vs Hot Springs
This will be an extremely interesting matchup. Hot Springs is a resilient side that is currently on a hot winning run after responding well to two losses against Lakeside and Lake Hamilton in early April. The 5A West Division is easily the most competitive which should mean that Hot Springs should be more match sharp than Van Buren. Still Van Buren also have shown their ability to grind out results, which is especially impressive considering a lot of people expected the team to drop off this year after losing a core group of players last year. Either way, expect a game full of goals between these two!

3. Lake Hamilton vs Siloam Springs
On paper Lake Hamilton is probably the stronger side, and they will have the additional benefit of playing on their home field during the first round. Still, Lake Hamilton cannot afford to get too comfortable as the Siloam Springs team they are coming up against are resilient. Siloam Springs have given Russellville the most trouble in any 5A game they have played in this season with Russellville having to work for a 2-1 win. Expect this game to be controlled by Lake Hamilton with Siloam Springs having to find their own opportunities through counter attacks.

Other than these 3 games for the Boys in the 1st Round I find every other game extremely predictable with all of the 1st seeds being leagues above their 4th seed competition (El Dorado might have had a shot for an upset if they were not matched up against Russellville), and PA also being a far better team than Batesville.
