How is Mt. Home doing this year. They were state semi finalist last year. I thought they were returning several off last years team. I do agree that Greenwood has a chance to be in the mix at state tournament.

Don't know the overall record of MH; they are (2-2) in conference play. Lost 2 to Marion, won 2 over Searcy. High School coach changes the line up every game; still early in the conference season; probably looks at who they are playing and comes up with a game plan.

Gw and Sheridan played sat and GW lead 2 to 0 into the 5th before timely hitting and a couple of errors put Sheridan on top 4 to 2. Will see Russellville on Tuesday.

Sheridan also beat Lavaca at Van Buren Tournament 4-0. Lavaca's pitcher did a good job and will do well in the state tournament. Greenwood scored 2 runs vs Sheridan on 2 hits and a dropped out at first that caused at least one of the runs.

Sheridan is a very good team but GW had 2 hits in first inning. Dont think they were no-hit rest of game....could be wrong though but dont think so.

Greenwood is also a very good team. I was very impressed with them and think they will do well in the state tournament. I was not trying to down them in any way. Good luck to them when they face Russellville it should be a close game.

  I agree Ru  ssellville should be # 1 until somebody beats them in state tournament, I think Sheridan is the 2nd best team at this time, I would have Greenwood at # 3, to me 4,5, and 6 should come from these three teams in no particular order Mt. Home, Benton, and Marion. I also think Van Buren is much improved they play good defense and are very scrappy. They could easily move up with a little luck Andy has them believing in themselves. Just my opinion.

Actually that's been pretty accurate - all 4 of those finished in Top 5, last year, and Top 6 in 2011.

I thought 2011 was our year. At one pont, had won 19 straight, had a pitcher(senior now) who went like 70 innings without a walk, took a 26-1 record onto the semi's against Searcy. Got beat 2-1in 8 innings. Last year they had another very good team, just had some kid(lol) from R-ville win the game with her bat-and, oh, her pitching. Maybe this is the year.

It's definitely more of a Pitcher's sport, than a team sport.  Glad that Rslv kid was a Soph last year.  But you never know - the sting of a terrible call deciding the 2012 state champion, still sticks in Rslv's crawl.  Have to keep in mind - it's just girls softball!

I've got Marian as #1 in 6A East, strength of schedule keeps them out of Top 5.  Cabot wouldn't be in the 6A Top 5, just a terribly weak conference.

I hope that is all that they are preparing for. There are a couple of teams out there that can knock them and Sheridan off. No it has not happened yet but they have had some close calls.

ha ha - I only posted Russellville's 20-0 season cause Whitefellar felt the need to post Sheridan's 17-1 record.  I'm sure everyone can beat Russellville, but I can't pass up the temptation to mess with Softball Parents.      Records mean nothing, especially in Arkansas 2014.

Russellville played 3 varsity games.  They lost two in ITB (1-0 and 5-4) and tied the other one after two innings of ITB (1-1).  Those 3 games were against teams from Ohio. 

They played a 4th game, but it was a 3 inning JV game.
