He's a good coach and contributed well at NLR.  Went to have at PA I think.  He will do a good job there.

This guy was a good coach at NLR for Football, but he did fail as a baseball coach for El Dorado a while back.

Maybe  more candidates would apply or be interested in this job if it was a coaching only position.  A program this size shouldn't expect the HC to teach classes.

Not just teach but teach a full load and only 2 coaches are in campus.

You think he would have known these things in the interview process for the job

And schools wonder why some win and some lose.  One schools pays better, doesn't make the HC teach or at least very little so they have plenty of time to run the program the other school has the staff and the HC teach a full load and often core coarses, so they have little planning and meeting time.  Not to mention coaching against larger staffs and better paid staffs, happy coaches.  Now whydo so many coaches leave after a year or 3?  Bad situation.

Central is messed up in the way they even consider the candidates.  The hiring process is based on a committee of teachers. The run of the mill teacher thinks that coaches get paid to much and don't really contribute to education.  There are others that think differently but nobody will argue that most teachers have zero clue the value a football program with a good culture brings to a school.  They have a rubric of questions that they hit the candidates with and if the teachers don't like the coaches answers they give them a poor score.  So if the candidates didn't recite the latest politicallly accepted educational theory from memory they scored poorly.   Any serious candidate that interviewed for this job left this interview with a bad taste in thier mouth.

Why would you want a classroom teacher who likely knows nothing about coaching or about football to help hire a coach?  If you had a really supportive faculty member and you were doing it to be inclusive, maybe.  Although that is just cowtowing to the faculty.  Wonder how many coaches sit in on classrroom teacher interview?

The coach was on FOX 16 last night. Very excited and very positive outlook. He has high expectations for his team, but he says right now he is working to fit everybody where they place the best right now. He says they are looking solid overall as a team though.

The TALENT is there. It has to be. They are a 7a school. The right coach, will find it.

Most schools do. School choice is great for schools, but it also hurts schools.
