Curious what team numbers are looking like ?
Looks like Smackover will have 40 plus this year,  From what I have noticed they will have a lot less 2-way starters than I can ever remember, This will help. looks like the bucks will end up with about 4 or 5 kids from Norphlet will make an impact.

I think us having 50+ makes us has the most players in all 3A. Most small 4A schools are lucky to have that many. I'm pretty concerned that when 2016 rolls around. Smackover will have to move up a classification.

Booneville has 40-45.  That's normal here.  We cycle from low mid 30s some years to low 50s in other years.

Eldorado paper shows Smackover had 36 players practice yesterday.  The coach said he had six kids that did not not show.  I'm not sure how you are gonna get the roster to 50.

Jimbo Morphis

If you continued to read, it went on to say that the Coaches spoke with the kids, and a few were out right now on injuries. Then if you KEPT on reading, it said we will have about 45-46.

I didn't realize you were counting the six that didn't care enough to show up for the first day of practice, the ones that are injured before practice starts, and the other five that could move into the district any day now.

ISU7

Friend of the Davenport family.   But Coach Jones is a pretty good guy.  I have been close with the Davenports since their older son passed away from a heat stroke at practice.  I will continue to work with Hunter until he graduates.

Not counting the camden transfer yet, coach steel said when all is said and done will be 50 plus, .........by the end of the week...............with that said, like every year before the first game we will have some fly the roost..............we will probably end up with 45 or so by sept 5th, it is guess work at this time, but know doubt it will be the largest group ever.

There are reasons those six did not show, so yes we are counting them, these kids have worked hard the whole month of july , playing hours on end in 7 on 7 tourney's and also playing in multiple full pad jambarees,

some are nursing some knicks after those camps, I know D. Jones AND k Purifoy were out yesterday, so yeah I believe we will be counting them.

45 - 46 ain't 50.

I'n very aware that it's not 50. I was simply stating that we will have 46 players that will actually PLAY by September 5th. He was saying we only had 36. The 6 that didn't show. As I said, coaches spoke with them and they will be playing.

Why were Purifoy and Jones not there for the first day of practice?  I would hope Strickland would count them as part of the team.

baseball2012

I really wish I knew your name so I could come straight to you for my inside info on Smackover sports.  I mean a young and wealthy guy around town that knows the insides and out of our athletic program would be a good person to know.  Really, you don't know near as much as you think you do and this this team will not win a championship with the kids running the program.
