Home games against Siloam Springs tonight. Big for both teams.

Girls trying to make their playoff aspirations more attainable with a win.

Boys are still trying to keep the 1 seed realistic and under their control.

What are the official results of these games?  I'm hearing Alma girls by 3 over Siloam, and Siloam boys by 27 over Alma.  Any truth to this?

Looks like you are right, Buck.

HUGE win for the girls. This gives them a chance at the playoffs now.

WOW...sounds like Siloam put it on the boys team...shot 26-36 from the field and 9-14 from the 3 pt line for the 27 point win. I doubt many in Alma or anywhere expected this outcome prior to the start of the game. The 1st quarter appears to have been competitive but after that it looks like Siloam controlled the rest of the game.

The Alma boys are searching. Searching for a consistent leader. A consistent scorer.

This team looks "lost" at times. I don't know what the answer is, nor have I ever seen an Alma team play this unenthused in years. There are no vocal leaders on this squad. Just a bunch of teammates.

I don't have the record books, but I can't remember the last time an Alma boys team got smoked this bad at home in a conference game.

Maybe I need to smoke more cigarettes.

I tell you what the problem is.  Steve Perry is not sitting on the front row blowing smoke in the opposing players faces this year.  He needs to return to Steve Perry 1.0!!

I was going to ask that very question Steve....I bet it has been a VERY long time if ever that Alma has been beat like this. I talked to a friend of mine that was at the game and he said that Siloam controlled the game pretty much the whole way! He was scratching his head and said that Alma came out supper aggressive on the defensive side of the ball and got into foul trouble early. He said it almost appeared like they were intentional about their reaching and swiping at the ball. As a result they also got out of position and gave up some open looks. Probably not many teams have shot 70% plus in that arena either!

You're right about that. Steve has not been Steve since Alma moved up into no man's land. That's what it feels like playing in the 6A.

Feels like playing basketball in a Mad Max sort of setting. With no one around.

Indeed they did. And then never got back into the game mentally.

I don't know what needs to happen other than the fact that I need to go down to practice and hand out some smokes and tell these kids to get their act together.

Maybe they need to start smoking cigars in the locker room like Alabama does after football games. I could supply the cigars too.

Whatever needs to happen needs to happen quickly.

On another note, our girls have really shown some intestinal fortitude this year. They got a big win last night over a Siloam team that had previously defeated Greenwood at Greenwood. They have steadily shown  improvement over the course of this year under Coach Mann...with the exception of the Van Buren game. That performance is still a mystery to me.....but other than that...our girls' program is showing signs of a heartbeat again. Hats off to Coach Mann on doing a great job thus far. Two packs of smokes for you sir.

I just wanted to take this time to acknowledge our girls for their hard work. It doesn't go unnoticed. We really appreciate their efforts this year.

And there will be smokes for the girls as well....Virginia Slims..

Alma going to Conway tonight for the start of a 3 game road trip.

The ladies will have a tall task on their hands to say the least. Conway girls are very good.

Just looking at scores, I think if the guys get out and compete and don't get down early, they can win this on the road.

This will be the first time Alma has played @ Conway. Last year's game @ Conway got cancelled.

@ Russellville for the Airedales and Airedalettes tomorrow night.

The Airedalettes will try to get a very tough win to set themselves up for a 2 seed. This game isn't the one that will decide whether they make the playoffs or not, though. The Siloam Springs and Greenwood games will decide that. But if they beat Russellville, they could afford to lose one of those games.

The Airedales have a good shot at the 2 seed if they can beat Russellville tomorrow night, especially if they beat them by 10 points or more because then they would hold the tiebreaker. Also they would hold the very slim chance of grabbing the 1 seed still.

Now if the Airedales lose, the 2 seed wouldn't seem very feasible and they would just want to beat Greenwood to stay in the playoffs.

I do but how does it matter?

The sub categories for 6A and 7A seeding are what seeds them for state.

Watched these two school match up again tonight. As usual, I don't recall exact scores.  Siloam girls blew a 12 point lead early in the game and let Alma within 3.  Siloam got back on track and ended up prevailing by around 15 points.

The boys game was a slugfest all night with Alma seeming to have the edge the entire game. When I walked out with a few seconds remaining Alma was up by 6. I do know they won.
