Jessieville cannot even be in the conversation. Lost their best player and icon coach and replaced neither!
Considering what everyone else lost I think they can. In fact I think Burleson could be a top 5 player this year.
Osceola is a final 4 team without a doubt. They will not let their guard down this year.

They should be OK, but lost 3 starters off a team that got hammered by Tuckerman. I'll take Clinton in their place.
If Jessieville can talk the all state linebacker transfer from Harber to play basketball it would take care of the post.
Have to give it to the seminoles heck i wouldnt be surprise if they do a back to back
Prescott will make some big noise for the next two years with the players they have from last year! The starting line up will nearly be 6'0 + across the board

And still won't beat Centerpoint!
Both of prescott's stars " 6'3 , 6'7 " were sophomores last year and didn't even get to play the district or regional due to making sophomore mistakes off the court. Im not saying prescott is just gonna be unreal i'm just saying there gonna surprise many folks when regional and state comes around. ( Centerpoint wont come within 15 of the wolves the next 2 years pal ) ;)

Just as long as it is not Lamar then we'll all be okay.
I think Chucktown is going to be better than expected. Looking forward to the season.
I'm pretty sure Episcopal will find away to win state again even though they lost one key senior and then Khalen Robinson tranferring up to 7A in Bryant. They still have a baller in Treylon Payne that is a dog on defense and is one of the best sophomores in the state top 6. ECS always has ballers so they will be fine. If they don't take though I have confidence Osceola will win it with Makai Caruther leading the way they also have some other pieces to make it happen.
Didn't know Khalen had transferred...big addition for Bryant, tough loss for ECS.
Correct me if I am wrong but I thought makai was kicked off the team
I got 2 girls and a 3 year old boy so I do Focus on girls more right now. So in GIRLS Greenland Girls got a good solid Springdale Junior transfer in Destiny Jackson that should help a ton, Charleston has one the stoutest top to bottom Sophomore classes in the state (in any class), they should be very tough this year they might have a 3 year Dynasty type of run, Valley will be tough for sure however I think the Favorite would have to be returning Champs Hoxie id think. Lamar will play without Sophomore Lakyn for the first part of season they will be a tough out for anyone.

They don't have any size. They're athletic and like you said very disciplined. They're going to be a tough out for the next few years. The junior high squad has played two games and they were a 40 pt and 39 pt victory. 19 Pts is the highest total of the two opponents

Omaha and Kirby are both solid 1A schools. But to answer your question they have a whole month of cupcakes on the schedule in Nov.

Omaha and Kirby might just give you the same number of losses too. Calling them cupcakes is a bit much.
There's a reason that those bigger schools don't consistently have the top 1a's and 2a's on the schedule. Nothing to gain and everything to lose. It doesn't matter how many kids are enrolled, only 5 can get on the court.

What exactly are they going to lose? There's no RPI or power rankings to lose ground in. They might lose some pride or morale, but if a loss to a smaller school devastates a team so much that they can't overcome it, then they're not gonna be winning any championships anyway.
One could argue that there's nothing to gain from beating up on overmatched teams that have the same enrollment. Playing smaller schools that are better basketball teams would be more beneficial for larger schools.
I agree that teams should find the best competition to them. If it wasn't an issue for teams to play one another then the U of A would have played Arkansas state by now.

On average it's true...but just looking at football where it should be completely true...there are some 6a schools that would struggle to make playoffs in 3a and even 2a...
But anyone following that mindset strictly would also think that a good 3A team would be a cupcake to a 5A school. So if Manila plays Greene County Tech, the folks at GCT would think cream puff?
If Osceola stays together this season no one in 3a will beat them. They are getting a guard back that can shoot lights out and can jump out the gym. They will also have some size but guard play will be great. Sr foward Derrell Brown is the best defender on the Noles he can shut anybody down any giving night.

I don't know. They got blasted at Baptist. Granted, that's a great team with an absolutely phenomenal player, but that hasn't happened in a while. Losing that badly to the big dogs is eye-opening, especially because we've been so competitive against all classifications over the years. This team reminds me a lot of the 2016 team. Coming off very successful seasons, but lost a lot of talent and depth and got blown out in a lot of these type of games. Like that team, height and lack of true post players is a really big issue. But that 2016 team was more talented than this team IMO. The good things is that these guys are young. They lack the experience and overall skill of the other team, but they have potential. So don't count them out, but I wouldn't consider them a favorite yet.
McGehee is 3-0 with wins over Hamburg, Dumas, and Smackover. Just finishing football that's a pretty good start.

Not my team but Yes Sir, I agree , we will see , I have watched them and they are winning some impressive games !! How Lamar doing this year?
Yes a long way to go to the state finals. Several teams will have a shot. I don't think too many people had Hoxie picked to win it last year. Speaking of Hoxie, they aren't as good as last year at least not yet. They lost the little guard that made them go last year. However, they have two 9th grade sisters who can flat out play who will be moved up late I assume.

I hope he does well, just don't want people to be hard on him if he does struggle a little. I know he is and will be a baller, I had the privilege of coaching him in pee-wee. He has a bid heart on the court.

Mcbride will be Back and that's all they need.

They are losing 4 big guys and their main PG facilitator & perimeter defender, but have several underclassmen that gained a lot of experience last season and a boat load of guys coming up that can shoot the rock. It remains to be seen if their defense will be as much of a force as it has been the last 3 years.
Baptist Prep is losing a lot of size and experience. Also find it hard to see Mcbride leave his senior year after three rings at one school already.

I'm on the fence. It would surprise me if he stays. Like Connor, what else does he have to prove in mid level Arkansas basketball. Just practicing daily against kids in a bigger school setting or even a prep school would be more beneficial for his future. And now they have to play a 3a schedule. It is the only school he has gone to. Friends and community can mean a lot. Only he knows. And he ain't sayin. Yet.

I think he stays (and by the way, believe Connor should have stayed for his Sr year as well) and with him, Baptist will be in the hunt and should be one of the favorites. Tough to win four in a row though.

It would be nice if a great College offer that gets him excited would roll in this week. He has some good ones, but I think he deserves better. Was hoping Georgia Tech would step up after showing some interest, since the Hogs seem to be full.

McBride is going to Kansas.
Rock Chalk Jayhawk.
After watching Riverview boys play Brookland last night, they gonna win it all. No one in 3a can match up with them. They had some kids not even dressing out and could've won.
Although Manila is good too...maybe McBride can put the 4 peat?
Nobody in 3a is gonna beat McBride. Too good

Truth hurts!
Two young point guards out (injuries) that should be back before the post season. Both have excellent handles and can score, defend & distribute.

stop it
He will be the best player in 3A for sure and I'm thinking if Baptist Prep stay healthy they will win their 4th straight title (3 in 4A)
Any truth to Caruthers(Osceola) enrolling at Manila?????????????????

Maybe the Noles will trade him to RC for 2 players to be named later.lol ;D
I've been following Baptist pretty closely at the start of their season. They are shooting really good and Mcbride is doing Mcbride things. They should be at the top of this potential champions list if they aren't number 1.
I can still see Baptist having struggles this season if they have bad shooting games. Mcbride is the only real playmaker and shot creator in the lineup right now because sophomore guard Daniel Cobb broke his leg during the first game. Cobb was the freshman and only returning starter for Baptist this year other than Mcbride. Their defense is also not even close to as good as the past three years under the new coach.
I don't know too much about the other 3a teams but I hear a lot about Tuckerman, Manila, and Osceola always being towards the top.

You don't hear anything about RiverCrest, but they are the last team to win a state title(2011) 8) for the 3-3A conference. Real News.. ;D ;D
Why not start a new thread instead of tacking on to one from last season?

Cobb should be back in January (fracture only). They should also get another sophomore guard back from a knee injury in about a week. He will help a lot on the perimeter: athletic high octane motor, good passer, very good handles, and a good shooter as well.
The other Sophomore starter is right at 70% from 3 pt range in 5 games, and the second leading scorer, so he has a lot of 3 attempts for such a high percentage.
Spoon and Evans (both juniors) are playing very good. Spoon had his best game of the year so far against Maumelle last Monday night. I estimate he scored around 21-22 points and most of them in traffic at the rim.
Defense is definitely down from last year due to the size and a great defender in Javion Collins lost to graduation (& with Cobb out), but they are defending better than I expected. Scoring has been up against what has been very good competition early in the season. Maumelle looked to me like a really good and athletic team, and Baptist dropped 90 on them on the road. McBride put on a show with 39 pts, 7 rebs & 9 assists. 51 points between the others is pretty good for this new clutch of Eagles against a good 5A team.
