Mountain Home welcomes Harrison to Bomber Stadium Friday Night.  Harrison has dominated the series over past 20 years.  Big game for both teams.  Who wins and by how much?

Bomber_Believer

25 seniors should be an advantage for Mtn Home, but with the coaching change year one, game one, this could be tough.

Harrison Golden Goblins come to Mtn Home Bomber Stadium on Friday to kick off the new season between these old time rivals.  I believe these two teams started their rivalry around the late 1920s in basketball.  Then it went to all other sports as the schools started those other sports programs.  Last year I wrote how the towns of Mtn Home and Harrison got their names and I also told how the Bombers and Goblins got their mascot's names.  (that can be read on last year's thread if you are curious on history on the link below)

The Goblins are the favorite to win this year, but I have seen that before and the Bombers have come out with the win.  This game will be on these following live stream links below...

Good Luck to both teams!

Comments and insights are welcomed.

PA Dad

I have to go with my 5A buddies.  Harrison takes the win.

Go Postal

(This is what I posted on another thread in the 5A forums about Harrison.)

I did glance at Hootens and I believe that this is the 1st time in a long time that they said that Harrison's strength was "Depth".  8). Returning 14 starters.  A dozen or so Seniors and a Sophomore class that went 10-0 undefeated last year with wins over Alma, Greenwood and Van Buren, to name a few.  I do like how Coach Wells has made improvements since he got here.  This and the next few years should be very exciting for the West fans and the Goblin fateful.  Let's get this football season kicked off in style!

Go Postal

This was from another thread about the Berryville/Harrison scrimmage benefit game:

The first part of the Harrison/Berryville game was a 10 play scrimmage for each team, doing that a few times so there was a lot of Sophmores being switched back and forth, getting their reps.  Harrison won the scrimmage 14-0 and were driving for another TD when we ran out of our final 10 plays.  Both TDs were initialized by two different QBs.

Then Harrison/Berryville started a real game, running 2 quarters.  Harrison won 21-7 in that half game.

We utilized a Senior and Sophomore QBs most of the game and had another Sophomore getting reps at the last part of the game.  Goblins scored with all 3 QBs.

We seem to have more speed this year with the addition of the Sophomores and they weren't afraid to hit and take a hit.  There were some 1st game mistakes but I think that overall the whole team seemed to gel with each other, no matter what class the player was from.

The running and passing game went very well and some of the plays surprised me on how well they were executed.

We used two different kickers and didn't have to punt, but I think that the Senior QB might be doing that.

The Offense and Defense did well and I can see them only doing better each game.

Like I said earlier, there was a lot of co-mingling of the Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores playing in this game so I'm not sure of who the Varsity team was but they played to win and that's what counted.  We will see next week on how the Goblins can play in a full game taking on their old rivals, the Mtn. Home Bombers.

MHFAN

Mountain Home returns 18 starters, 9 on each side, plus a couple of move ins that will start and contribute at key positions.  Defensively we will be very good.  In scrimmage against Blytheville don't believe varsity allowed Blytheville to enter red zone and maybe not past 40.  JV scored in last quarter off a turnover inside MH 20.  Offensively must hang on to football.  Last years game saw 6 turnovers by Bombers and lost 21 to 13.  Take care of those and MH should get much needed win.  Credit Harrison's defense for those turnovers.  Depth will be a problem for MH and sounds like a strength for Goblins.  Could be a wet field which would generally be in favor of a running game but with MH tendency to fumble could be a big problem.  Expect a big turn out from both sides and think this will be a good competitive game.  Safe travels for Harrison fans and let's get this on!!

Deuceswild

I reminded my sons team that Mt Home outplayed us last year and if it wasn't for the turnovers, that would have been a different outcome. However, some of those fumbles were from some pretty hard hits. I am always excited to see how things go against the east. Let's hope both teams stay healthy for a strong run in their respective conferences. Good luck to Mt Home on every game except this Friday's game. 3 days away!! And props to Postal for keeping us up to date with all the history between these two ball clubs. That's truly impressive.

MHFAN

I agree with the hard hits.  Harrison is a very physical team and when MH runs 99% of the time it allows defense to key on running backs and get aggressive.  It should be more of the same and with a wet ball could be a lot of turnovers.  Who knows, maybe MH will air it out, ha ha.  No chance on that!  Got to stick with what works best for us and try and keep Harrison offense off the field.  Got a chance to watch 9th grade team last year (now sophomores for Harrison).  Most talented group I have seen out of ya'll.  Is the Huskey kid that is a sophomore going to start on varsity?  How many of the sophomores will start?

Deuceswild

Huskey, Both and Jones will likely start and there are several who will see the field with plenty of reps. I agree, that sophomore class is fun to watch. I got to watch them succeed against a bunch of Good Missouri teams this year. And both schools have a lot of seniors so I can see success this year for both squads. Good luck this upcoming season after Friday of course. 😎

You'd be hard pressed to find a better rivalry than mtn home and Harrison football. I'm not speaking to the quality of football, but the fact that it's 2 communities that respect one another enough to try and whip their tail! Never heard a single person speak poorly of the other's town... but maybe I'm talking to the wrong folks!

MHFAN

I agree.  Don't know why or how but ESPN radio will be broadcasting at Bomber Stadium Friday.  No details, maybe someone else knows.  Should be an electric atmosphere and weather looks cooperative.  Don't forget, it is a pink out for cancer awareness.  My prediction is Bombers 38 (we have a kicker this year) Goblins 14.

Go Postal

Ray and Jamie are graduates of Mtn Home like me.  They work for ESPN radio over here in Harrison, but I don't know if that has anything to do with them broadcasting over there.

Congrats to Harrison.  MH will win some games this year.  Harrison just too good right now.  A good game until kick off botched by MH at 14 to 7.  Never could recover from that.

Who does mountain home have on their schedule that they can beat?

MHFAN

That is a good question.  Maybe no body.  I think they have some really talented players and if they can pull it together could win 4 to 5 games.  Nettleton, Batesville. Little Rock Hall, Jacksonville, Marion, and Searcy are the most likely "chances" at victory.  This same group of kids did beat WM and Searcy last year??  New coach and too many injuries are an obstacle right now.

Deuceswild

For the record I have hundreds of pics, for the 7th grade, 9th grade JV and varsity all posted on FB if u want to share with Mt Home families. Enjoy
