My alma mater loses and my wife's alma mater wins, both were unexpected    What's a guy to do?

x14113

Seeing how those two winners face each other next week...join your wife, maybe?

The_Pioneer

Dang, wish there was a way both Henderson and Harding coulda lost.

Lionheart88

OBU opened the season on Wednesday night with a 31-28 win over NWOSU.  The Rangers look to be much improved from last year. KO leaving the game about five plays in didn't help either, though he should be fine for next week.

Jack1990

UAM falls to SWOK State 20-19.

The Muleriders and Reddies don't play until Oct 28.  Should be a good game.  Will be televised on ESPN3

I meant to say you should've joined your wife in rooting for the Reddies tonight.

Just make sure to console her in the postgame.

Let's go ATU!! I meant to post a link to the livestream on here, but I forgot. I figured it would be more entertaining than the Arkansas game, but alas, it slipped my mind

Jack1990

UAM moves to 1-1 with a 37-35 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State.

Lionheart88

OBU won today @ SWOSU 38-10.  It was closer than it sounds, at least for the first half.  10-7 at the break, then OBU scored 14 each in the third and fourth while holding the Bulldogs to a lone field goal.  With the win, OBU will retain the Paul Sharp Cup for another year.

bigworm

OBU defense was nasty last night. With OBU offense struggling in the first half they stepped up time after time. 2 unforced turnovers by the tigers in first half kept it close.

This is the preseason ranking as voted by the coaches:

1. SAU
2. Harding
3. Henderson
4. OBU
5. Southeast Oklahoma
6. Arkansas Tech
7. Southwest Oklahoma
8. UAM
9. Northwest Oklahoma
10. East Central
11. Oklahoma Baptist
12. South Nazarene

Arkansas Tech has beaten #1 and #3 to start the season. Seems like the coaches misjudged this one

Tech is the surprise of the season so far so me.

Let's just keep it up now!

SAU/ATU - SAU had a couple of ill-timed turnovers (drive the length of the field, then fumble) and penalties (SAU got a SERIES of penalties before half, that helped put ATU in position to score). Eliminate either, and SAU wins. ATU did not take the lead until 3 minutes left in the game.

HSU/ATU - HSU threw 4 interceptions, and had one other turnover. Hard to beat ANYONE in the GAC with those numbers.

But it is what it is: ATU is 2-0. They took advantage of opportunities, hit some passes when they needed to, and knocked off two of the better teams in the GAC.

The_Pioneer

Lucky breaks or not, they still count.

Longfellow

Through 9 quarters of football this season, Arkansas Tech has forced 8 turnovers and they just blocked and returned a punt for a TD

Longfellow

Add another pick to that total, returned for a touchdown.
ATU leads Oklahoma Baptist 55-14 with 8 minutes left in the 3rd quarter

Good to see UAM off to a good start.  ;)

I am stunned that Harding is 0-3.  :o

And that Henderson State is 1-2.  :o

These two teams are having a lot of turnover and penalty problems.

Yeah, real heartbreaking....

OBU fell just short of a comeback victory against SEOSU.  Down 41-21 entering the 4th, they made it 41-35 but ran out of time.

I don't think there will be an undefeated conference champion in the GAC this year.

Best GAC Football game this weekend [9/23/17]: UA-Monticello (2-1) @ Southeastern Ok State (3-0)

Having said that, there are no easy games in the GAC. It seems anyone can win any weekend.

We got screwed. They hit one of our receivers on the goal line with a pass in the air and no flag. Missed several holding calls throughout the game. Didn't help that we dropped 5 wide open passes

I call it the "drop-sies", when it seems receivers just start dropping passes. I can't explain it, but I have seen the phenomena too many times to disregard it.

Do you mean "Holding" with regard to passing or o-line blocking?

It seems that the GAC has stopped calling holding by the o-line.

Almost every time they dropped back to pass, one of our players was blatantly grabbed by the jersey. Not one flag

You think the refs got paid off by OBU?

Nope. I just think they blew a few calls

expected when you play at tech.

bigworm

You mean when tech plays at home they should expect to get the shaft?

Grond

We all get frustrated with the refs at times, which is almost part of being a fan.

The biggest factor in the GAC this year is TURNOVERS. SAU is 3-2, and in all three wins, they had the least turnovers.

It seems these young WR's & RB's are watching the NFL, and trying to stretch out for the extra yard. But they aren't NFL talent, and they make a mistake.

I think Pioneer will be even more livid after tonight.

UAM is a bit scary this year. They have a near D1 level receiver, and when they are "on", UAM can really put up some points.

Seems UAM scores 20 points......or 46!   :o
