One week from today is the start of July! Time to start bringing it!

I see. It's about as funny as Benton posters complaining about Brad Harris being hired as head coach? Who the heck are the going to get?

8-4A.
Warren
Hamburg
Dollarway
Star City
Dumas
Crossett
Monticello
Dewitt.

I doubt Dollarway finishes that high. Not only have they lost some players to graduation, they've had players transfer to PB and WC too.

Interestingcall

So how do you see the 8-4a playing out this year?

Warren should run the table in conference. Monticello and Dewitt I would think will finish at the bottom.  Beyond that I honestly have no idea. I was honestly surprised to see Star City picked 4th. I thought we would have been 5th or 6th. Any news on Crossett, Hamburg or Dumas?

Most of these conferences aren't decided until the last two games,

True, except 8-A Warren and 7A Nashville

Pretty much playing for second place in those conferences

The 2-4A have been a conference in the past few years decided in the last few weeks. Last season Newport was ranked 1st and being from around Newport I didn't see them being ranked that high and we all saw what happened to the Hounds. I think CAC and Stuttgart will decide for 1st. The rest I'm not sure about.

I remember back in the mid 90's, Newport was a 4A school that played WC in the playoffs. They would now be equivalent to what was then a 3A school.  Have they lost that many students??.

Obviously they have, that's why they're dropping down in class this upcoming season.

Not surprised. WC has gotten a couple since last season too.

I'm pulling for Stuttgart to spank CAC this year.

They lose some good talent, but the 8-4A will be pretty down this year.

Yes a lot compared from the 90's. It was common for Newport to have somewhere from 80 to 90 players on the roster back then. They'll be doing good if they can stay between 30-40. Newport took a big hit when all the factories closed down in the late 90's. Most send their kids to Tuckerman or other nearby schools and a lot have moved away for better jobs. I don't never see them being in class 4A again unless something major happens in Newport.

The decline of family farming is probably hurting them too. Nowdays most of the farming is commercialized so the family farmers have had to move to find other jobs.

Well, you know what I mean. Instead of family farmers selling their products to feed and clothe their families, most of the farming is done by big companies who sell their products to make the company a profit.

I don't have a clue where you got that info but it's totally false. Yes, the small family farm is getting more rare to see but it's not big corporation like walmart taking over, it's other farmers expanding their operations. Yes, some corporations are buying land but they aren't farming it. They hire more times than not the guy who they bought it from to take care of things and share the profit with them. Honestly, this has become a good deal for the farmers who in most cases would have lost everything and been out of a job.
