As you can tell, the WBC reeks havoc on virtual Dice as well. Bad times.

I know The Show was tough when I had it. I was at like .500 with the Marlins a couple months into the season on the hardest difficulty.

AB™

I'd move Drew down in the lineup and move Bay to the 5 hole.

Yes. It's by far the hardest baseball game out there for sure.

And just like in real life, the Rays kick my ass all over the place. I'm not going to bother posting a box score. I just lost 14-4. Maybe I can salvage some pride and win the series finale and split.

Getting ready to play my 2 game series at the Yankees.

I'm going to keep updating the standings, stats, and schedule that I posted at the beginning of the thread after each game. That will make it real easy to keep track of everything.

What's funny is that A-Rod starts off hurt in my franchise. Before I ever started it, I got online and downloaded the updated rosters and loaded them so each team would have the right lineups, rotations, bullpens, etc. I didn't realize injuries were also incorporated, but it's funny to see Doug Bernier or Cody Ransom at 3B for New York.

This was such a satisfying game. Burnett dominated me for 8 innings, but he didn't return for the 9th and they brought in Edwar Ramirez who promptly gave up 4 runs. Lowell had the go ahead RBI single, followed by JD who hit a 3 run BOMB into the 2nd deck.

Yeah, the pen saved me. In the 7th TB had the bases loaded with nobody out down 3-1, and Ramirez struck out Kapler, Lowell made a diving stop on Bartlett and threw home to just barely get the force, and Okajima got Crawford to ground out. That was the key to the game because it looked like it was all going to blow up in my face.

I'm hoping to play Game 2 and maybe 3 sometime today. We've been playing well so I don't want them to have a lot of time off between these games. Gotta keep the momentum going. Sadly I work 6:30-4:00 today.

Late last night I was playing my first game on the hardest level, and Wake was giving me a hard time. It was 2-1 them in like the 7th inning, I tied it and then hit a huge 2 run double. I wanted to yell, but Emily was already asleep in the other room so all I could do was jump off the couch and do the Tiger pump.

Don't you mean the Papelbon fist pump? :)

But yes, I definitely did it. When I struck out Kapler (the 1st out) he actually had a full count on him and I was throwing a 2 seamer that kind of got away and was tailing inside, but thankfully he didn't pick it up until late and swung and missed. If I had walked that run in to make it 3-2, things would've been a lot worse given that Ramon Ramirez's confidence meter was already wavering, and it would've gone way down after that making it extremely tough to locate pitches.

The pitch meter is the same style as the one as MVP, only the zone is a little tougher to hit to make your pitches accurate. There's also an energy and confidence meter that you can see if you pause the game or make a mound visit. When a pitcher loses his confidence you have to be careful because things can go downhill QUICK.

SMC

Do different pitchers have more confidence though? Like obviously an all star caliber pitcher should be able to work out of jams more so than a journeyman. Or do they all lose confidence at the same basic rate?

msubulldogs21

Yeah, the confidence each guy has varies depending on how good he is. Relievers have much shorter confidence though so if a RP starts getting hit hard you better have someone warming behind him. It usually takes a starter a little while to lose his confidence, as opposed to a reliever who can lose his quickly after 3 or 4 batters.

I want to play my 2nd game vs the Rays so bad right now, but it's pouring down rain and I would be so pissed off if I was winning and the power went out, so I'm just going to wait til later on tonight after the actual Red Sox and Rays game.

When I have a pitcher I'm trying to throw a CG with and his stamina % is in the low 40's or high 30's, the only time I get a "perfect pitch" if with a 4 seamer. Everything else is too risky in that I might leave it up and then it goes out of the yard.

What an epic game.

In the bottom of the 14th JD singled to lead off the inning, followed by a Varitek sac bunt. Julio Lugo came up and had a really nice at bat, fouling off quite a few pitches. He then got one and hit it right past Longoria down the 3rd base line for the walk off single.

I've also decided that Lugo is going to take over full time at SS now. I gave Lowrie his chances, but the fact is he's hitting .229 and we're 30+ games into the season. Plus, Lugo is faster.

Upton going 0/6 lost his 15 game hitting streak by the way.

Going for the sweep in the next game. Lester vs Price.

Wow. This one is definitely in the running for most absurd game I've ever played. Going into it this was my 17th game in a row without a day off, so most of my lineup was really low on energy and my bullpen was totally depleted (remember, the last game went 14 innings)... and of course, we play a 13 inning marathon! The bullpen being heavily worked recently was probably the main reason it looked so bad in this game. I had to bring in quite a few guys who were really low on energy, and in turn they didn't throw quite as hard and weren't as effective as they usually are. It got so ridiculous that I actually ran out of pitchers. Papelbon was running on fumes to begin with, so I had to bring in freaking Beckett (who pitched yesterday) to relieve him.

At least I took 2/3 from the Rays. Offense had a nice day.

If you're keeping score at home, this is my 3rd straight extra innings game.

I'll probably go back and research this, but Dice has to have the worst run support on the team. 2nd straight game he's pitched great and has nothing to show for it. I hit 3 balls that missed being a HR by about a foot in this game. At least Ortiz showed some signs of life. Juan Rivera's walk off HR was an inside fastball that he somehow took oppo down the freaking line. Ridiculous.

RHS

I know all about perfect picthes being hit deep. I've thrown some 4 seamers down and in before and they get taken for a ride oppo field and I'm like "Really?" I've also thrown some sliders down and away that were just outside the zone and had them pulled for some bombs.

He's hitting like .392 or something in mine right now too, lol.  He was at .462 a couple of games ago, but has fallen off some.

They are getting back at you for invading their country.

Some Red Sox personnel updates:

I knew I was going to have to make a trade of some sort. I've had Wakefield stuck in AAA for the whole season (he's not very good on this game) and Javier Lopez has been struggling in relief, so I figured I'd try and swing a trade. Plus, it only makes sense with Wake being old and probably going to retire at the end of the year. Well, I had no idea it would turn out to be an F'ing A trade. (And I have fair trades turned on)

Boston Red Sox receive:

Ernesto Manning, SP/RP (AA) 6'4'' 220, 20 years old, RHP
AA stats: 10 games (5 as SP), 3-1, 1.80 ERA, 4 QS, 1 CG, 1 SHO, 0.96 WHIP

Yorman Ozuna, SP (AA) 6'0'' 194, 18 years old, RHP
AA stats: 7 games, 1-3, 2.68 ERA, 5 QS, 1.39 WHIP

New York Mets receive:

Tim Wakefield, SP
Javier Lopez, RP

I'm pretty pumped about getting 2 AA stud SP prospects, especially only 18 and 20 years old. They were doing well in AA, but I didn't want to rush things and send them immediately to Pawtucket. I'm hoping they can continue to be solid at Portland, then I might consider calling them up to Pawtucket later in the season. I got both those guys for an old SP and my worst RP on the team. Good times.

I also called up Clay Buchholz from Pawtucket to the Red Sox bullpen. Little did I know this was going to be such an important move, as you will see in my next post...
