Fearless Friday congratulates Lake Hamilton

Twin Towers Jessica Weatherford and Suzanne Fincham combined for 40 points and 16 rebounds to lead Lake Hamilton to a resounding 59-35 win in the Class 6A girls state championship game on Friday.

Weatherford was 8-for-10 from the floor, 4-for-7 at the free throw line for 20 points with seven rebounds and three assists. Fincham was 9-for-14 from the field and hit both of her free throw attempts for 20 points with nine boards and three steals. Fincham scored 14 points in the first half.

Lake Hamilton led by 18-8 after a quarter, increased it to 36-14 at the half, led 47-25 after three quarters and put the win away with a 12-10 advantage in the last quarter.

The Lady Wolves never trailed in the game, scoring the first five points.

Lake Hamilton hit 15 of its 23 shots in the first half for 65 percent and finished 22 of 37 for 60 percent.

Lori Hill added 13 points , hitting 3-of-4 field goal attempts and 3-of-4 free throw tries.
West Memphis managed just 12 field goals in 44 attempts. Crystal Riley led the Lady Blue Devils with 17 points.

Lake Hamilton finished 25-3 with its first state title since 1995.
West Memphis was 23-6.

Road to the Summit: West Memphis won the East conference and defeated El Dorado (64-51) and Watson Chapel (71-61) in the state tournament after earning a first-round bye.
Fearless facts: West Memphis is playing in its third straight state championship game and is 74-14 during that time. Last year, West Memphis lost in the title game to Watson Chapel, which they defeated in the semifinals on Saturday. Head coach Sheila Byrd is in her 14th season as head coach at West Memphis and is 317-105. West Memphis has played in 23 straight state tournaments.

Road to the Summit: The Lady Wolves won the South, earned a first-round in the state tournament and defeated Texarkana (67-62) and Little Rock Parkview (56-44). 
Fearless facts: In eight quarters in the state tournament, Lake Hamilton has scored 20 or more points in three of them. The Lady Wolves are making their first appearance in the state championship game since Tiffany Wait etched her name in the Lake Hamilton history books by leading Lake Hamilton to the state championship in 1995 with a 41-38 win over Greene County Tech. Lake Hamilton also appeared in the title game in 1985, losing to Searcy.
