I really like what I see from Mike so far.. Working hard to get the kids where they need to be!

Jimbo Morphis

What are some of the differences?

Katdaddy

Has Strickland found another job yet?

old.dole

Those on the bucks schedule better to be ready to play a motivated bunch of young men next fall

Proud Buckaroo

He's definitely working on conditioning. You're going to see a completely different offense. The offensive coordinators favorite offense is uptempo/spread with a dual threat QB. That's actually what offensive package Mike has brought to smackover. Hitting the weight room more often and trying to get the kids to put on more muscle. Our health and medicine coach has a diet plan laid out for them as well. I cannot wait for the season to begin.

Not that I am aware of yet.

Health and medicine coach? How many 3a schools have a coach for that?

Other places call them trainers or strength coaches. 1st ever medicine coach.

thats called track practice right? so.....they're all running track

WHITEchicken

No they aren't all running track.

old.dole

I believe it should be mandatory for all skill kids to run track even if they never go to a meet

So if they quit one sport they can't do any of the others? What's basketball got to do with football and track? Skill kids faster and your track team gets better

adaptedtigerfan

No cramps ...  but they still got shutout in the playoffs. 😬

WHITEchicken

No ones asked you adapted...haha

Make it mandatory they aren't quitters before you make them run track.

The team that shut them out got the same thing Smackover got at the end of the season. A participation trophy. 🤔🤔

Only two of the football kids are doing track. A handful of them are with baseball right now.

I just think it will be better for both programs. A quitter is going to quit on you at some point anyway don't want it to be in the 4th quarter when the game is on the line.

Proud Buckaroo

Big.big changes are coming. Watch out for the boys this coming season. 😉💪🏻

Which is something charleston knows little about and smackover well let's say it's become a lifestyle there

WHITEchicken

The same the JC got when they moved up to 3A

THA TRUTH

Difference is smackover couldn't have even done it on the 2a level.... let's not compare gold to trash

Proud Buckaroo

I guess JC is just going to have to get use to getting participation trophies since they'll be staying in 3A. So.... Nice try.

Because it's fun. Board has been dead since presskit won the championship.
Other than lake village/lakeside/eudora trying to find a coach. Nothing is going on.

Pretty sure JC will end the school year with more 3A State Championships than Smacktown!  LOL!!

Proud Buckaroo

We're talking about football, DD. Just because JC won the weightlifting championship that one other team competed in... That doesn't count. 😉

Track season ain't done....howd y'all do at district?

Proud Buckaroo

I don't know. I haven't looked nor asked. Probably got 4th place. Last time I even considering looking at track. Jordan was in track.

WHITEchicken

Girls won district. Cheerleaders won state already so we might end up tied or might beat Jc. Also not sure if JC will be 3a after this cycle

Yeah, a guy has posted assumptions of what the cycle will be based off the numbers the schools are reporting.

dragondad

Doesn't matter,  still 3A for at least two more seasons.  Both JC and Smack with new HC,  should be some great football rivalry.

The numbers I saw has JC staying in for this cycle and the next cycle.

Fordyce and Gurdon dropping down.

Rivercrest to 4A.

Rison and CHG back to 3A. Which will have 11 teams in our conference. Unless they geographically move fouke to 3a-5. (Where they should be.)

Only way to do that would be to move Prescott down to 3A-5.

Because fordyce is dropping down... Rison and CHG would come up.

We lose Fouke and GC. That would leave 8 in the conference.

WHITEchicken

Oldman why do you say I should be banned? Because I said something about Smackover winning state in Cheer? I was just proving a point brought up by someone else.

AAA won't make a conference with more than 8 for football in 3a and above

Junction's full student count for 9-11 grade average should be somewhere around 173.33.

2014-2015    58  66  52  58.67
2015-2016    65  52  61  59.33
2016-2017    50  62  54  55.33
                                173.33

Those numbers come from here:  https://adedata.arkansas.gov/statewide/Schools/EnrollmentByGrade.aspx?year=27&search=junction%20city&pagesize=10

Since 2014-2015, the ADE numbers have both the AR and LA kids in the publicly available chart.  For 2013-2014 and before, the ADE made available a second file of the LA kids to the AAA that would have been added to primary file so all kids would be counted for athletic classification.  Since the ADE patched their software for 2014-2015 and forward, there is no need to add the two files together and if the files are added together now, the LA kids would be counted twice.

Now where a count of 170 to 176 or so would put a school, I couldn't tell you.
