If the new contact rule passes it will effectively end the JV Game schedule as we know it. Each player will only be allowed to play tackle football three days per week (includes games); consequently, Friday counts as one day, Tuesday and Wednesday count as days two and three. Since most teams need their JV players to prepare for Friday night, most schools will be forced to cancel Monday night JV football games.

Its good to protect the players,  If this comes about, I suggest just having a 10th grade team that plays on Monday.

Smaller schools will never play JV again because they would not be able to put together a scout team

I disagree with the rule.  It is important for the kids to practice in full contact every chance they get.  Yes there is a chance they can get hurt.  As a father of two that played I understand.  I feel the kids can and will actually get hurt worse not being fully prepared for game situations.  There are also opportunities being taken away from kids who made want to play but may not be the best player on the field Friday nights.

BlueRaider, do you have a link on this rule?  Trying to catch up on changes.  Thanks.  My thoughts without knowing the new rule.  Before anyone slaps me because of what I have to say, I totally understand the parents concern for their kid's safety.  I have been there.

rant on...

But, WTBloodyH!  I agree with michael2370.  JV needs the experience when they are called into a Varsity game.  For any boys/girls sport.  Yes, sometimes it can be too physical, but knowing what to expect and having the athletic ability to overcome is a plus in a Varsity game.  Using a example, on the World Cup, most of the World thought that the US Men's Team didn't play the sport RIGHT (do dives) because we played through injury because of the US playing and learning from American Football.  BS.  What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.  That is why we are Americans.

rant off...

Anyway, I feel the parents concern in not getting their child hurt in any sport, but if your kid plays in a full contact sport, let it be a full contact sport.

BTW, my kid played 3 sports.  Four year starter in Football as a power halflback and middlelineback, got a State Ring in Soccer, one in Weightlifting.  Played through pain, but strived on in the American way. ;)
