JC plays Hector week 9 at Henderson State

Thanks.

That makes sense.

JC used HSU in 2003 for a week one game with Augusta, David Carpenter is in the HSU Hall of Fame and the stadium is named after his father.

Isn't Hector not too far north of Russellville?

HSU doesn't work out to halfway but at least neither team has to make the full trip.

Looks like JC's two cancelled games were home game.  There are only three regular season games scheduled for The Lair.

"Our second annual Dragon Serve Day will be Friday August 10th. If you know of anything our guys can do to help in the community, please message me. Last year we were able to mow yards, pick up trash in town, paint fire hydrants for the fire department, and do a few odd jobs for people in need. Let us know and thanks for your support of Dragon Football"

This is very nice.  Last year, the Hornet seniors went to the elementary school and read to the K-1 kids, wearing their jerseys of course.  Those little ones thought they were the Pittsburgh Steelers.  :)

That's great that the Dragons are giving back to the community.  Coach should be applauded.  +1

Our Senior boys do that as well.  They serve as mentors to the K-6 kids.  They're also helping with coaching and conditioning our pee-wee football boys.

Helping with peewee is something ours don't do.  I wish they did, but the high school athletes don't get involved much with peewee.

From the EDNT:

"For Junction City coach Steven Jones, Monday's practice continued to build on what the Dragons accomplished during the summer.

"We like where we're at," Jones said, adding that he had 35 players out for the first day of practice. "We went to a lot of camps during the summer, so we were able to add on what we did over the summer."

As far as the first day of practice is concerned, Jones said his team worked on the basics.

"We worked fundamentals on both sides of the ball," Jones said.

For today's practice, Jones said the Dragons will work on defense.

"We had more of an emphasis on offense (Monday), so we'll work on defense tomorrow," Jones said."

Dang Pick, Des Arc is ranked 11th to start the season.  I was hoping we could win our first game.

How did Hamburg look?

I'd have to defer to dragondad on that one.  All I know about the game is the final score and that Hamburg led 20-14 at the half.  (I saw the scores on his Facebook)

dragondad

They're big but young,  they seemed to be working on their balance but definitely better at the run game.  Their pretty solid at slowing the run at the ends but a little soft in the middle.   They should do ok once they get another game or two behind them.
