I cannot do what Bleu does but here is the article about the GOLD/Purple scrimmage for the JC fans.

Dragons hold Purple & Gold

JUNCTION CITY – The Junction City Dragons took another step in their path to preparing for the season opener.

In front of several fans, coach David Carpenter's team participated in a three quarter Purple and Gold scrimmage Tuesday evening at Dragon Stadium. For the most part, the players did exactly what they were expected to do.

"We had a bunch of guys out there hustling and working real hard," the coach said. "That was the thing we as coaches were most impressed with. I really liked that."

However, at this point of the season, the players are bound to make elementary miscues. During the scrimmage, the Dragons committed mistakes which can be easily fixed.

"We're not ready to do a lot of things yet. There were mistakes, but also a lot of good things out there. The defensive guys were going at it making good plays. The linemen were blocking well," Carpenter said. "There were a lot of good things which happened that I like. But, we also had a bunch of little simple mistakes that after they watch the film, they'll understand where we messed up. I know it will be OK."

The biggest highlight of the scrimmage was a nice 49-yard TD scamper by running back C.J. Johnson in the opening portion of the competition. Carpenter admitted that he was not surprised by anything which developed during the event.

"You're lined up against the same guy you've been in front of for the last three weeks. You know what you're going to get. The defensive guys all play offensive spots, so they know by alignment and the calls being made what's going to be run. There were things coming in that we thought was going to happen, that did happen," he said. "The main thing we were happy to see is the effort. We're not in great shape yet, but we're in better shape than I thought we were. A bulk of those guys didn't stop. They were going both ways the entire time. We're in better shape than I thought."

Today, Junction City's coaches and players will review film of the scrimmage and make the necessary adjustments as they get ready to face Harmony Grove next Monday.

"This season is here. We have to get ready for Monday so we must get our ducks in a row," Carpenter said. "We'll have double duty (today) as we'll cover all of our stuff, go to group period and make the corrections, and then start working on Harmony Grove so we'll have a busy day."

Dancy is the feature back for this series during tonight's scrimmage. Back to back carries. One was 20+ the other was around 10.

Earlier KD took a swing pass about 70 to the house.

Pardon the lens issues, but here are some more pictures of the construction progress.

Looking down the home field sidewalk.  New lights and temporary concession stand.

View of the new visitors' stands and new lights from the home side.

Wilson

Kinda looks like they might be nicer than the home stands

dragondad

Visitors stands went up quick, they were just delivered on Tuesday evening.

dragonpride27

We find out more about our dragons tonight...after purple gold game i think we will be fine...first and third games of season will be very tough though! Think haynesville is young to so should be exciting!!

dragondad

Dragons looked good, JC 24 - CHG 7. Run game is solid and we spread the field well. Usu early season miscues, weak blocking, and missed tackles. Coaches will have them ready for Smacktown!

beaverpride

yes run game was ok, but we didnt have many receivers catch the ball from what i saw...Who are our legitimate receiving threats not coming out of the backfield.

dragondad

26, 16, 13, 3..... all have good hands if the ball is catchable.

dragondad

7, 8, 18, 28 also with good hands and speed.

According thr Jonathan Ford with bleed tech blue there's a good chance Dancy doesn't redshirt. ..he's just too good not to have on the field is what he said this afternoon

JD got a lot of field time during the scrimmage after the fan fest last Saturday.  He was even lined up in slot for some plays.

Wilson

That's what will keep him from being shirted. . if they feel comfortable putting him in the slot. . he used a Jim Ross wrestling line to describe his first step.   he not fadt. . he's sudden . . said he got the quickest first step on the team

Will Junction City still livestream their games? And will the haynesville game be online somewhere?

thabeast428

Yea the dragon sports network will be doing the games again

Proud Buckaroo

I am thinking about going to the haynesville game.

Longfellow

I wish I could make that Haynesville game, that has the look of an instant classic

Wilson

1A haynesville beat 4A Minden 13-7 in their jamboree last night. . their defense appears to be just as stout as last year and they controled the ball on the ground most of the night on offense

Was this game streamed or did you go watch it?

I have a friend on the Minden coaching staff

Not to derail the j.c. thread, but that is the worst poll I've seen, des arc at 17th while returning 17 starters from a 10 win team last season. Just silly.

Yeah Pick kinda strange like picking Smackover number 1 in 3a when they tied Parkers Chapel in a scrimmage . The ranking PC 25 in 2a boy is 2a stout this year.... ;D

RiverEagle079

Honestly this could be a juggernaut of a playoff bracket this year if everyone plays up to there home teams fans standards ::)

Key word is "scrimmage."

Air Force One

JC! get out of your comfort zone, you are a good team, you beat up 2A and 3A teams quite well, show how deep your heart is, schedule Warren, El Dorado, Fairview, or Farmerville, LA. Just wondered way you play weak 3A teams?

Wilson

Louisiana plays by a power rating system and getting them to play an Arkansas team is tough cause they get zero points for playing an out of state opponent . . Haynesville us playing JC this year because in 1A Louisiana most of the top teams (calvary, OCS, University) are sent to the select bracket separating them from the public schools. . Mangham and Haynesville along with Kentwood will be the only 3 public schools vying for the top 2 seeds.   so Hville can take the points hit. . .Eldo and Fairiview wouldn't schedule JC even if they got to keep the entire gate and got 5K on top of that. . nothing to win and everything to lose. . Warren is doable . . but you almost have to get lucky and get a hootens game because their schedule is full several years in advance. . if you think JC doesn't try to have a full a tough schedule you're fooling yourself .

Proud Buckaroo

"Weak 3a teams. " ::)

Yeah, because 3A state runner up is "weak."

Dragon I

LOL!  I knew the Smackover fans would be here after that!

dragondad

Still one week before season even starts and the haters are already trolling in

amehr36

We still gonna be able to watch games online? Also how long is the window we can watch the replay? I work every other Friday so I'm gonna have to do a lot of re-runs.

dragondad

Yes, games will be streamed live online and I believe they're available for five days, but it may only be three days.

Holtz addresses Dancy's availability for the 2015 season:  CLICK HERE

dragondad

He was at the house on Sunday and told me this, didn't want to put it out there until Tech made the announcement. Quid said he'll play deep on kickoff return and wherever else they need him.   I expect to see him at RB, of course, but I also won't be surprised to see him in the slot as well.

THA TRUTH

if there is one thing dancy needs to work on its catching the football so hopefully he gets that worked out

Wilson

Considering almost all of his action on offense will be in the slot. . I'm thinking they are comfortable with his pass catching right now Truth

THA TRUTH

I'm just going with how holtz said as a running back he will play I didn't read anything about slot just rb and return man

Wilson

You need to read and/or listen to "bleed Tech blue" with Jonathan Ford. . he's gonna give you the inside scoop.   he called Dancy not being shirted over a week ago. . said he's too good not to be on the field . . with the log jam at running back they have focused onh him out of the slot for the majority of his offensive snaps. . unless a rb goes down to injury he's gonna see most of his snaps at slot. . but his main spot is going to be as a return specialist .   bleed tech blue is on 97.7 out of ruston most Tuesday nights at 6pm. . will be preemped by the skip holtz show next Tuesday due to the holiday

You're welcome.

Getting the word out about kids and coaches who year-in-and-year-out represent their school and community in such a solid way is a hard habit to break.

Dancy played in the second half of the Tech game Saturday

Took two kickoffs for a total of over 70 yards.

Had two rushes.  One for 6 yards and the other was a 4 yard loss.

Had one real nice reception for 30 yards.
