With just two weeks remaining the defending champion, (Fred Bird, aka 12th Man CHS) is making a push to reclaim the title for a third time. bodycounTT maintains his lead though it has narrowed a bit. This week we pick every game in the state.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: the rest of the 1 gets stronger whenever the Saints hang around. We saw it in the mid-'00s, we saw it in the early '10s, and we're especially seeing it now. In a way, it's rather fitting that this recent surge culminates in a playoff rematch between two foes whose rivalry dates back to the old 1A days. Though there are exceptions (Fayetteville says hi), it's usually the rule for a rematch to repeat the initial result. Still, I expect surging Shiloh to keep in the game before the battle-tested Blackhawks finally soar away.

Warren @ Prairie Grove (10)
It's rather easy to state that the winner of this game has the inside track to the title. The billing certainly doesn't disappoint: The top two scoring offenses in 4A squaring off in the Cozy. With both teams winning the games, this will come down to who has what it takes to win championships. Thus, I give the Tigers the edge here, mainly because of their proven track record against prolific offenses.

North Little Rock v Fayetteville (10)
It took at least six years (and at least two different HCs), but the Charging Wildcats are finally in position to take home its first state title since 1972. Strangely, this final will be the first and only time this season that NLR will play a team from the very conference they will need to overcome to break its monopoly on the title. It'll be pretty clear whom most of the attendees will favor, but the Bulldogs' familiarity on the AAA's biggest stage give it an edge.

Greenwood (10) v Russellville
Billy Dawson strikes again! Another verse is added to his illustrious tune, boosting the (Crimson?) Cyclones to their first title shot in the playoff era, and with it, another shot at CRJ. However, that trend regarding rematches I mention above is not all that favorable.

Wynne v Pulaski Academy (10)
Go here if you want to see two of the state's top three offenses in action. Both sides have been outright scary over the course of the season, with the one loss between them being to one of UT's best. The Swarm want nothing more than to return to their place among the state's most storied programs, but even with their prolific results, it'll still be an uphill climb against the Bruins.

England (15) @ Hampton
These two were in the same class as Ozark when I was in HS...and neither amounted to much. The Lions have come (back?) to life in recent years, but looming before them is their strangest hurdle yet: A Bulldog side who didn't even play a snap last season (and won only one game more in the six previous than their guests have this year alone).

Harmony Grove @ Mt. Ida (15)
The Hornets have joined Hampton in flying the 2A-8 banner, molding a middling regular season into a very rare semifinal slot. Will they have a chance against a Lion side that sees its biggest chance to return to WMS?

Glen Rose @ Charleston (15)
Is it safe to call this a playoff rivalry? The Beavers won the first two before the Tigers got their revenge in the 2013 final. If Charleston is to prove itself worthy of a title, now is the time to do it, especially considering the expected result of the other side.

Newport @ Prescott (10)
The Greyhounds have benefited from a relatively easy draw in making it to the semis for the first time in eight years. Unfortunately,their next step will come against an even hungrier side lying in wait, as the Curley Wolves look to finally reach the title game for the first time in 21 years.
