5A East Playoffs Seeds/Scenarios

Boys:

(1) Valley View, Forrest City
This game will be determined by who wins the Valley View/Forrest City Makeup game.  If Valley View wins, then they will be the 1 seed.  If FC wins, (and they don't slip up at Batesville), then they'll get the 1 seed based off their tie-breaker over Valley View.

This is even more tough considering that Forrest City will have played Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

(2) Forrest City, Valley View, Paragould
The team that loses above will be the 2 seed (unless FC loses both games).  If FC loses to both VV and Batesville, then Paragould will be the 2 seed (highly unlikely scenario).

(3) Paragould, Forrest City
This spot is Paragould unless FC loses both games tonight and tomorrow.

(4)Nettleton
Tied with Blytheville with a 7-7 conference record, but beat Blytheville both games.

On a slightly bias rant here:  If Blytheville's fans hadn't rushed the court with a second left in the Valley View game, Blytheville gets the 4 seed.  Ref got scared (no fans were on the court) and blew the whistle.  Other ref had us put 2 extra seconds back on the clock and Valley View was able to throw the ball the length of the floor, miss a shot, and put back the rebound before time expired.  If that whistle isn't blown, the clock runs out before they get the ball in bounds.  And that's how 1 or 2 plays can change a season.  Wynne's forfeit against Nettleton is another big deal.  But, having said that, Blytheville still was in the driver's seat and just flat got outplayed and came out with no energy at Nettleton and got it handed to us.

Congrats to the 5A East representatives!  Bring home the trophy!

Girls:  Seeds are set

(1) GCT
Depending on the outcome of the GCT/Wynne game...GCT wins, then they are are alone in 1st.  If Wynne won, then Batesville could tie them for 1st (depending on their game against FC).  Either way, GCT has the tie-breaker with Batesville

(2) Batesville

If Batesville loses to FC and VV beats FC, then Batesville will be tied with VV.  But, Batesville has the tie-breaker with VV.  So, the Lady Pioneer are the surprise team of the year in 5A East girls by getting the 2 seed.  I noticed that they only played 1 senior for most of the game last night also.  So, they should be good for a couple years at least.

(3) Valley View
Due to their tie-breaker with Paragould, they get the 3 seed no matter the outcome of the VV/FC game.

(4) Paragould

These Fearless Friday threads tend to focus on the Boys, but the 5A East Girls might be pretty tough.

Paragould girls gave Pulaski Academy a real scare, and GCT won easily. The term "play like a girl" is a COMPLIMENT in the 5A East.
