Marion HS defeat North Little Rock
25-20
25-18
26-24

Marion is 1-0 in Conference
Marion is 3-1 overall

Marion starts one junior and 5 sophomores.  They are very young and fun to watch.

Cabot defeated Central 3-1.  Central has an impressive middle, very interesting dual with Cabot's tall middle.  Two of the better players I have seen so far in this conference.

Booneville took out Union Christian 25-12 25-17 25-9.  The Lady Cats are looking very impressive. 4-0, 2-0 conference.

Paris put it to Lavaca last night also in three straight.

Booneville, Paris and 10 other fine teams will be in the Mena Tournament tomorrow.

The full list:

Pool A Mena, Mansfield, Lakeside, Ashdown (at the MHS Gym)
Pool B Waldron, Lake Hamilton, Paris, Jessieville (MMS Gym, Court 1)
Pool C Booneville, Fountain Lake, Lavaca, Arkadelphia (MMS Gym, Court 2)

Pool play starts at 9 AM.

This is a great tournament for the neutral fan to watch.  You will see a defending state champion and two runners- up from 2013.  I have a feeling you will be seeing TWO 2014 state champions come out of this tournament!

Also you will see two of the finest liberos in the state (McClung from Booneville and Bunch from Mena) and an excellent hitter (Peevy from Paris). There will doubtless be other great talent on the floor that I haven't mentioned.

Mena won the tournament beating Paris in the finals 23-25, 25-14, 15-13.

Conway defeated Russellville for the Spikefest championship. I saw Conway play MSM and they looked good but not dominating. Have not seen Russellville yet this year but really expected them to win it based on the college commits they have.

Valleysports

Russellville has an Achilles Heel and she never graduates!

My bad, I just assumed that was the championship :). Texas was pretty good, their setter was very, very good...
