I'll take the OC from Henderson. Offensive success everywhere he's been and great QB coach. Would be a top notch hire.
His Bio says he has a Masters

This guy is impressive.  Nashville would maybe be able to offer him what he makes now, maybe a little more.  My guess is this guy is on the move at the college level very soon.

No issue.  He can go as a non traditional and be certified in two years, but he will have to spend2 years in the classroom and several weekends at class.  I am assuming he has a degree.
There could be a problem ... I'm hearing that he doesn't have his teaching certification for the state.

Coach Watson out of morrillton is a very good young coach who has been at Nashville before he as well as other applicants would be a great hire

TrackGrad

I think just about every coach in the state and several from surrounding states have been suggested by the fellow posters as "who would be a good fit, replacing Dawson" with that being said. Unless you hear a legit rumor, (from the school board or coaches in Howard County) keep your fingers away from the "Post"

Hello! Hope all is well with you and yours.

No telling who they will hire, I haven't heard nothing except what's in the paper.

The HSU OC has no plans to be a HC on any level.

I heard something real similar to this from a guy who used to be on staff at HSU.

Caught me off guard when I heard Volarvich as a candidate.

Who of these guys is it between. Is it still a race or a done deal
I thought McBride applied?

GotInfo?

After seeing the list, my guess is the front runners are, in no order, Buck James, Brooks Hollingsworth, Josh Price, and an outside shot with Volarvich from HSU.
James and Hollingsworth would both be great hires.  JMO

STUNNA

Depriest would be a very good hire..

It's NoShowBo's for the taking. He would be a perfect fit for Taint

Paul Ernest has served as assistant coach on championship baseball teams (Horatio) and served as head coach of Nashville's championship softball team.  He has served as an assistant under Coach Dawson and knows the players.  He knows how to prepare teams for championship competition. I'm not sure any of  the other candidates would be better for Nashville.

polksalet

^ lots of folks feel that way.

I agree completely I played for coach Ernest he's a great coach and deserves a chance if I could pick he'd be our guy

sooooo you want to hire the baseball coach because he knows the kids? jeff long and john l. say that is a great idea.

GotInfo?

Met him once and he is a nice guy. Heard a lot of good things about him. But I don't think he gets this job.

Loyalfan1

Sure Coach Earnest would be a great hire.  Not glamorous enough for DG though.

fredcage

Surely the administration learned something from the glamorous hire of the previous basketball coach!

TomTupa

Please hire Earnest...said all other 7-4A Head Coaches!

Rida4Life

Bachman from Bastrop would be worth an interview.  Good reputation in Louisiana.

R. A.™

Coach Ernest has HC experience in Football at Horatio if I remember right...Coach V from HSU is a surprise applicant, is that an official list?
?

~WPS~

Official list released from the Superintendent.

polksalet

Switzer is my first choice but Ernest is second.

TomTupa

Earnest, Bear, Dr. Lou, Jimmy Johnson, Switzer, and Lombardi...In that order. Sounds like a good list

A D2 College in Colorado...

polksalet

And still has better winning % as an second coach in sec play than the current coach.

John L took over a team that was coming off of back to back 10+ win seasons and returned future NFL draft picks at QB, RB, and WR. A lot of starters on both sides of the ball which earned a preseason top 10 ranking.

BRET Bielema inherited an offense that returned only 2 offensive starters and a bad defense. Your argument fails once again

polksalet

Inherited a team which had more players drafted than the aggies and longhorns combined. And more players drafted than Houston dale's first year.

Clearly no talent was left.

polksalet

And the team was ranked 5th in the nation at one point before Bert took over. I'm not a genius but it seems like a team ranked 5th probably has more than 9 good players.

No, they were ranked #10 in the preseason of 2012 when John L. coached them to a stellar 4-8 record including a loss to ULM.

See that sounds really good but do you want to remind everyone who those 4 players were? It was a kicker Zack Hocker, a fullback Kiero Small, a DE Chris Smith, and a Offensive lineman Travis Swanson. Explain to me how those 4 positions should impact a team to winning conference games in the SEC

Valleysports

The kicker puts the ball through the Goal Post, in the last few seconds of the game?  Team wins by 3 - just guessing.
