I liked him a great deal.   I did some work at Nashville High School and he was a friendly, approachable gentlemen with students and staff alike.   His image was more like a professor than a hard driving coach.  Couldn't help but like him.

was the ADG article correct on saying that Coach Laird led Nashville to their first state championship?  I thought they had one from the 40's or 50's.

Perhaps but most everyone referring to state titles refers to the "modern era" (1970 to present).

That was Nashville's first in the playoff era. Nashville has a few from the 40s-60s.

They CLAIM some from the 40's, 50's or 60's, but they're the only ones that recognize them.
