Title: Wynne @ Batesville
Post by: justalionfan on October 07, 2011, 10:29:08 pm
I guess I will go ahead and start this post on the most important game in 5A East this year. Will Wynne redeem theirselves from last year, national highlighted fumble or will Batesville win again?

I have to believe that Wynne may be the favorite in this game.  Even being a Batesville home game.  I expect it to be a typical hard fought, low scoring game.

Right. It isn't November yet.

Ok. Probably too early to be talking about the state. But they're beginning to show why they were the preseason favorite in the east. The defense has been playing well allowing just 20 points the past 3 games and the offense has been taking better care of the ball. Goodluck to both sides tho. The atmosphere will be electric. Can't wait!

I would hope that y'all only allowed 20 points against the three worst team in 5A east. Forrest City, Nelleton, and Paragould. Not worth bragging about. There is NO WAY Batesville is the best team in 5A, there is a team out there named GREENWOOD that is killing everyone. I do however bet that the fumble from last year game is played on the jumbotron over and over next week before the game. Sad but true.

Really!!!  20 points the past 3 games......that's great.......until you look and see who it was against.....Forrest City, Paragould, and Nettleton. They are 2wins 14 losses and 2 ties between the 3 teams.  Plus if you look at your whole body of work for the year......you average giving up 28 points per game..........I know you are new to the site by your post count but you gotta do better than this .

That's part of your problem, you can't just throw a lopsided score out there against a very good team and say "I haven't watched W play yet". W will hit you guys in the mouth and score a lot more than 14. W takes this game cause you Pioneers are not as good as last year and W is vastly improved. W has all the good karma going for them right now.

Interesting number

Wynne is scoring 30.5 points a game and allowing 18.8 points a game
Batesville is scoring 37.6 points a game and allowing 16.5 points a game

Advantage Batesville

Wynne is 2-1 against teams with a winning record and 3-0 against teams with losing records. Wynne next 4 games are against 1 team with a winning record (batesville) and 3 teams against losing records.
Batesville is 0-2 against teams with a winning record and 4-0 against teams with losing records. Batesville next 4 games are against 3 teams with a winning record and 1 team with a losing record.

Advantage Wynne

Common Teams

Batesville lost to Searcy by 15, Searcy lost to Marion by 5, Marion beat Wynne by 2

Advantage Wynne

Batesville beat Newport by 40, Wynne beat Newport by 25

Advantage Batesville

I am comparing Batesville to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Arkansas had 3 non conference non bcs games before playing a conference game(Alabama) and got beat. Same with batesville (Paragould, Forrest City, and Nelleton) 3 no name teams before a power house of Wynne.

So the numbers have them tied 2-2 so i guess we will find out friday who wins Game 5. Go Jackets

I think I am hearing a little sarcasm here, so just to clear things up a little I was wondering how many state championships and conference championships you guys have won over the past 25 years or so.  If you can match ours then, yes, I would say you are in Wynne's class.  If not, keep on aspiring.

with the exeption of the blowout by Batesville in Bates about 4 or 5 yrs ago, these two teams have slugged it out in rough tough nail bitters every year regardless of how the rest of there season is going. It's going to be a great game no matter what. "Win the turnover battle, win the game". Home team or visiter, one mistake in this game will probably be enough to lose it.

Because the game will start at 7, he will probably have to be at the fieldhouse immediately after school and then pregame. The game will probably be over around 9:30 or 10:00. He will probably go out with his buddies after the game, which means Childress will have a long night.  ;D

It's not that they can't beat a team with a winning record, but that they beat up opponents so badly that they lose the next few games.

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow.  I'm not going to get all over-confident like the Jacket fans, but I have faith in my Pioneers.  Of course, if the Pioneers who fumble and throw the ball to the other team show up, things could go badly for them.  If the true Pioneers show up, it will be a good time for them.  No matter what, it'll be a good game.  I'm not worried about the future for the Pioneers.

Don't forget that the 9th grade won without their "man child" running back.  QB Ross Trail looked like a mini Tom Brady throwing the ball.  One question for Jacket fans, where will Coach Hill play Wingo next year?  In my opinion Trail has a much better touch on his passes.

Well i have my salt and pepper so whenever the crow is served i will eat up!!  Glad i stayed home tonight and went to a revival, cause this sounds like it was ergly on wynnes part.  Tonight will do 1 of 2 things, it will wake the players up and slap them with the fact they are still building or they will just fold.  I tend to think this was a timley wake up call to a bunch of kids who play with heart and got their butts handed to them tonight.  Paragould beat f city tonight, but i will bet when they come to wynne next friday they will meet up with a buzz saw!!  wont be a repeat of last year!!

Hats off to the Pioneers.  They played very well in all facets of the game.  Awesome individual performances and great team effort.

Wynne's going to be okay.  There's no doubt in my mind that they have the potential to make a good run in the post season.  The pieces are there.

With the number of Juniors on the field tonight for both squads, it's going to be a humdinger of a game next year!

OK. Probably too early to be talking about the state. But they're beginning to show why they were the preseason favorite in the east. The defense has been playing well allowing just 20 points the past 3 games and the offense has been taking better care of the ball. Goodluck to both sides tho. The atmosphere will be electric. Can't wait!
Really!!!  20 points the past 3 games......that's great.......until you look and see who it was against.....Forrest City, Paragould, and Nettleton. They are 2wins 14 losses and 2 ties between the 3 teams.  Plus if you look at your whole body of work for the year......you average giving up 28 points per game..........I know you are new to the site by your post count but you gotta do better than this .
if you look both the wins are nettleton why do they get lumped in with two win less schools

You got to be kidding me..... That's because that's all the raiders are going to win. Win a quality game and then come back with that question.
hey just a jacket fan nettleton won their game how did you do ;D ;D ;D

Just got home and what a game. A lot of mistakes but it's a learning curve. If y'all notice in all my post I never said wynne was going to win or did I ever give a score. I knew it would be a game to remember. So I guess as of right now the road to little rock has to go through greenwood for the yellowjackets. Good luck to Batesville for the remainder of the year. I will be an eagle, Chickasaw, and badger fan the next three weeks  :D

Maybe they played a better, more physical team??  Nah.  They gave up 38 because we cheat better up on the hill.

Wynne didn't help themselves with a lot of dropped passes.  The drops put them in 2nd and long and 3rd and long situations where the Pioneer D was able to pin their ears back and go after Wingo.  Batesville also had fantastic coverage most of the night.  I'd say about 7 or 8 of the 12 sacks were coverage sacks where Wingo didn't have any open receivers and the Wynne o-line just couldn't hold off the Pioneer front 5.

From my vantage point, I'm not sure Wynne was prepared for the physicality of the game.  Most of the running success for the Pioneers was simply running right at the defense.  The Pioneers D also brought the wood all night.

No one said anything about such, Ossis your team outplayed ours.  Instead of saying crap, why don't you get something done about the guest bleachers?   Why do they end at the 50?  Lol

someone answer me this.... How did wynne get an intentional grounding call when wingo was two steps from running out of bounce and when he threw the ball it went pass the line of scrimmage????? That is what you call throwing the ball away when there is no one open.

Because the High School rules are different than those in College or the Pros.  Check out the Officals board.  There's a thread that breaks down the rule and how it's applied.

There is no such "Pocket Rule" in high school. Regardless of if the QB is out the pocket, the ball must be thrown in the direction of a WR. There was no eligible receiver in the area.

Translation. I'm upset with the Pioneer beat down of the Yellowjackets.  The visitors bleachers at Batesville has always been that way. See sentence number two.

Yes, Hoghead, Jordan Childress had 324 yards rushing and 2 TD's.  Not sure how many carries.  That puts him over 1,200 yards through 7 weeks.

100% not being sarcastic by asking this but what does Wynne do normally that they didn't do Friday.  I was surprised too, so I am curious what happened.  Have respect for Wynne's program just wondering why they didn't play well in your opinion.

They did seem to be improving against the run.
