I'm curious to know if any of the referee folks know why the AAA Business meetings are required for referees - especially if that business meeting has nothing to do with the sport (or sports) a referee officiates..

Also, is there an agenda for the business meeting posted anywhere?

Thanks.

Rulesman

Spring business meetings are required for all officials in all sports every other year and are generally for the purpose of electing officers (AOA Executive Committee, etc.).

Rulesman,

Does that mean there is a referee representative on the Executive Committee?

Do you happen to know if there is an agenda for the meeting anywhere?

I've never seen one online if that's what you mean. The only time I've seen agendas published are for the clinics in Hot Springs.

beach bum

The agenda involves every team makes the playoffs in all sports now....they have to increase revenue at all costs.

Same reason you have to go to the same clinic headed up by the same people, take the same open book test, and submit the same game reports that don't matter, because they say so.  If they make you jump through their hoops, they can pretend officials are being monitored and trained, and that divisions really mean something.

Okay, then..

Let me try this from a different perspective.  I've looked on the AOA page and I do not see the minutes from last year's meeting (or any previous meeting for that matter).  Does anyone know if the minutes are posted anywhere online?

Minutes? Hahahahaha.

No.

You go to the meeting and they elect a football guy as the AOA rep. Have fun.

And probation is a meaningless penalty in some sports...
