Exactly Camden had no business in the spread last year.  At least the coaches were smart enough to change the offense up after a few games.

I think thats how the fans and probably some higher ups would think.  I don't think thats even remotely close to reality.  Football is football.
You're crazy if you don't think that's how reality is. I think there are many jobs that coaches aren't considered for because of the offense they run.  People like living up to the status quo. And will refrain from doing what it takes to win before using a certain type of offense.

Agreed! It's high school. You gotta adjust to what you get and help the players see how it will work.

Warren was a power I team before Hembree. Once Hembree installed the spread and started working with Jr High coaches and pee wee coaches to install that system, Warren turned into what it is because of that.

No way Warren wins back to back titles in 2001-2002 running a power I offense with the athletes we had. Same with 2014.

I don't really agree that "football is football" in some instances. You have to adjust to your athletes. In 2013, we had a solid backfield and a great line with a QB that could run. We ran a pistol type offense that centered around read option type plays and it got us to the state title game in 2013. The next year, not so much because the QB wasn't a run threat. I think good coaches know how to work around their personnel.

I think some people have the misinterpretation that when you run the spread all you do is pass the ball. There are 3 different types of spread teams. Teams that spread the field to run the ball, teams that spread the field to pass the ball, and teams that spread the field to be balanced. You have to adjust your offense according to the personnel you have know matter what kind of offense you run. Good coaches know how to do that. And its the same with the defense. You have to adjust your defense according to the personnel you have. You just have to find out what works for that particular group of kids.

Hopefully they were smiling and fist pumping because they were both hired somewhere else

I think they realize by now that they made a huge mistake but they'll never admit it. Too much pride.

Letting Buck James go from Camden was a huge mistake. It worked out in the end for him though.

MONDEN HIRED AS CAMDEN FAIRVIEW FOOTBALL COACH

Jake Monden, who has served as El Dorado's defensive coordinator since 2013, has been hired to be the head football coach at Camden Fairview High School.
Monden was selected from six finalists for the job as was approved by the CF school board by a vote of 6-0. One board member, Beth Smith, was not present.
Monden replaces Mike Cox, who resigned after 2 years as the Cardinals coach. Cox was 14-9 during his tenure at CFHS.
Born in Noble, OK, Monden graduated from Northeastern State University, where he was a 4-Year letterman from 1999-2003.
After serving as Northeastern State's offensive line coach and special Teams coordinator, Monden was the offensive line and strength coach at Dublin High School (GA) from 2007-2008.
He then moved to Mineral Springs High School (2010-2012) , where he was the defensive coordinator and assistant Head Coach, before moving to El Dorado in 2013 where he served on Scott Reed's staff, coaching linebackers while also coordinating the defense.
Monden, and his wife, Stefanie, have three children - Haylee, Maddix and Reese.

Congratulations to coach Monden. Let's get behind him and row in the same direction ladies and gentleman.

It's a great hire. He will get it fixed. Give it time

Will the people that know him give the people that don't know him some feedback please. Thanks

What kind of defense does he like to run?
What kind of offensive philosophy does he believe in?
Is he an offensive guru or a defensive juggernaut?

You know, stuff like that.

GotInfo?

I don't know him personally, but the people that I am friends with do.  All say he is disciplined, structured, and energetic.  Has been a coordinator on both sides of the ball, which is very beneficial.  Knows alot of football and can teach it.
Great hire.  Give it time to get it fixed, cause from what I hear, there hasn't been a whole lot of hard work going on for a while.

Marblehog

That's a good hire I think for you guys.  Man I was really hoping they would hire some of those other guys LOL.

Lionheart88

IIRC Magnolia's current coach John Panter was his predecessor as ElDo DC.  Did he coach under Panter, or come to ED from outside?

El Dorado was a 4-3.  He has coached both sides.  Word is he is looking to run a spread system that is balanced and play 4-3 or 4-2-5 depending on personnel.
I would guess who he hires as coordinators will tell us more.

arkansasprepfootball

A bit surprised it got past three sitting head coaches, however I do think Coach Monden brings what Fairview needs in terms of organization, program-mindedness and discipline.  I think Fairview took a step in the right direction with this hire.

We can use some discipline, structure, teaching, and hard work. The last couple of years we've had none of the above.
