Springdale set to take on Northside in the 2006 Great American Rivalry Series on October 27, 2006.

Springdale and Northside have both been in the spotlight.  Springdale has become well known after their undefeated season in 2005, claiming the Arkansas Class AAAAA State Championship.  Northside most recently won the AAAAA State Championship in 2000, including 7 others dating back to 1961.  Both teams have won titles, but only one will win the Great American Rivalry Series.

The impressive 14-0 record of Springdale in 2005 comes to the surprise of no one.  Springdale's impressive team chemistry was matched by individual player ability, capped off by quarterback Mitch Mustain being named the 2005-2006 Gatorade National Football Player of the Year.  Mitch was a senior last year, and a new leader must now lead Springdale, and Northside is well aware of this.

Springdale has been in the top half of the conference rankings for the past 5 years, and Northside has been rejuvenated in recent years, finishing third in their conference in 2005 and finishing second behind Springdale in 2004.  They look to take back their dominance in AAAAA, and topple Springdale of their place on top of the rankings.

Northside may try to forget about last year's 52-0 loss to Springdale, or they may use that as a tool to redeem themselves in 2006.  When it is all said and done, every ounce of effort by both teams will be used in striving for the victory, when Springdale hosts Northside on October 27, as part of the 2006 Great American Rivalry Series.
