Title: Starting 9
Post by: Longfellow on June 03, 2018, 12:50:14 pm
Was talking about the greatest outfielders of all time yesterday, and started thinking about my all-time starting 9. It's not who I think is the best ever, just all-time greats I like the most. Who you got?

P Randy Johnson
C Jorge Posada
1B Frank Thomas
2B Roberto Alomar
SS Alex Rodriguez (screw Derek Jeter, I hate that guy)
3B Mike Schmidt
LF Rickey Henderson
CF Ken Griffey Jr
RF Ichiro Suzuki (there is no argument you can make to convince me that Ichiro is not the greatest baseball player of all time)

Nolan Ryan
Sandy Koufax
Bob Gibson
Roger Clemens
Walter Johnson
Satchel Paige
Johnny Bench
Stan Musial
Craig Biggio
Cal Ripken Jr.
Brooks Robinson
Willie Mays
Roberto Clemente
Barry Bonds (Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Ty Cobb, Ted Williams join them as my top outfielders ever)

Tough picking my man, Brooks, over Schmidt and Brett...

Haha just a little.  I just realized I never filled the catcher position.  I guess it would either be Eddie Perez or Javy Lopez, but back in the day Ozzie Virgil was a pretty solid backstop so I'm torn on who to put there.  Dale Murphy is my favorite player of all time.

Dale Murphy is the best player not in the HOF (pre-PED)
