Batesville 24  ( 0-2 Batesville lost last week to searcy 47-9 this week they take on MH and finally get there 1st win move to 1-2 on the year the question for Batesville is were will this lead with questions marks are they the team that doesn't make the playoff I don't know or is just Batesville starting out slow and get better I don't know but only time will tell for sure )
Mountain Home 12  ( 0-2 MH lost last week to Nettleton 42 -0 this week they take on Batesville and lose again to move there season to 0-3 start will they win this game only time will tell for sure )

Green county tech 24 ( 0-2 GCT lost last week to Newport 47-15: this week they take on Kennett MO and lose again to move there season to 0-3 Start hate to say this its looking like GCT could have another 0-10 will they win this game only time will tell for sure )

These things must all transpire the week the playoffs begin. 1) Greenwood's locker room must become infested with birdflu. They would need 20 or 30 players to become bedridden for 7 days. 2) Pine Buff must have 40 players convert to Hasidic Judaism. They would not be able to participate in any activities after sundown on Friday's. 3) El Dorado's entire team must be abducted by space aliens subjecting them to a week of painful "probing" on the mothership. 4) Jonesboro's bus drivers must get massively confused by benign brain tumors and drive the team to California the Friday of the start of the playoffs, thinking their going to Disneyland. As a Devil Dog fan, I am a little worried about Searcy.  They seem to be much better this year, and i'm not real sure how good the Dogs are because Rsvl lost a lot, and LR Fair wasnt very good. Searcy QB is the real deal, Morr linebackers need to be in his face all night for the Dogs to have a chance. Looking forward to what should be a good game. Go Dogs....

The thing that impresses me is how he is able to mute his evaluations on Wynne. If you use his other general post on Wynne we were all expecting to read this:

I can see how they were able to fake the moon landing, what I'm still trying to figure out is how they staged the championship? my theory is that PA had a few million dollars left in the "pay the refs" budget so they kidnapped Wynne's team and had actors pretend to be the players/coaches. At halftime they used the Men in Black mind eraser and reinserted the real Wynne team but wiped their mind clean of the ability to play football.

Another "if" you might want to consider is your D-Line.  With the way our O-Line (avg 295 lbs) executed Friday night your D-Line had better be ready for some smash mouth football.

Actually our defense has played pretty good. Jonesboro and Searcy never mounted much of a running game against us. Our pass defense is suspect. 70% of the yards rushing against Batesville this year have come in the 4th quarter in games where it was pretty much "let's let the JV's get some experience". In both games we had numerous 3 and long's (7 or more yards to go) and they would give up a 12 yard pass. Another factor was fatigue, when your offense is always giving you only 3 or 4 plays rest it wears on you. Passing teams scare the heck out of me, smash mouth is what "boring" Batesville lives for.

For all the talk about last year's Wynne/Batesville game from the Wynne die hards, I have never seen adults get so excited over a high school game, let's keep it in some perspective. Over the past 10 years that game has been competitive, with the exception of last year, with Batesville winning the majority of times. Last years Wynne team was outstanding, no question about it, but remember Batesville was decimated by injuries. Not only were none of the 4 starting linebackers suited up for that game, including the State defensive player of the year, 3 of them had never played lb before. It's not that they had only played the position a couple weeks, they had never played it. All in all only 4 starters played that game. Would we have won at full strength last year? probably not, Wynne was outstanding, but it would have been a good game. All I'm saying is that NO ONE, not players, coaches or fans fears Wynne this year. The general feeling is we can't wait to get to them.

Jessie P. is doing a pretty good job defining the Pioneers challenges this year.  Our suspect showing in the defensive secondary is a mystery to me.  Most years I'm worried about that part of our team - not this year.  I thought secondary defense would be a strength.  In watching the games pretty closely, it appears that our secondary is playing it safe, not willing to make plays in fear of an interference call or getting beat.  If that issue is not addressed, it's going to be a long year.  It appears to me that we are going to need to establish a strong passing game to open up opportunities for the run (opposite our standard operating procedure), and strengthen our pass defense.  If we can do those two things which I believe we can, Batesville will be just fine and, if given last year's draw, may even play on Thanksgiving weekend. IMHO

In 2012 you had some nice passing set up by the run. Your big blocking TE would set up to block then release late for easy pitch n catch first downs to the flat. there was really no way to stop both the run and that late release to the flat play by the same defensive personnel cause the big TE was a mismatch for a smallish corner and the LB had to play run first

Agreed. it puts far too much pressure on an already undersized o-line when teams put 8 or even 9 in the box. The ultimate irony is we have a legitimate D1 receiver on the team. The qb never has time to get him the ball. It's frustrating because 1 on 1 against any db in the 5A he's getting the ball, he's tall, strong, fast and just doesn't drop the ball. If you put him on PA's offense he's getting 15 catches and 300 yards a game.

Batesville is consistent, year after year.  Talent changes year after year.  Coaching does not.  As long as Coach King is at Batesville, they will be a force at the end of the year.  We will see them there again this year.

I can see how they were able to fake the moon landing, what I'm still trying to figure out is how they staged the championship? my theory is that PA had a few million dollars left in the "pay the refs" budget so they kidnapped Wynne's team and had actors pretend to be the players/coaches. At halftime they used the Men in Black mind eraser and reinserted the real Wynne team but wiped their mind clean of the ability to play football.

I also think this may be one of the better Searcy teams in a while.

I agree and think Searcy has enough talent to hang with any of these teams that are overhyped and still beatable. Not saying Searcy will win playoffs but I can see them doing more than expected by alot of people in 6a.

Perfect post, spot on. If we can fix the o-line it's a top 3 team. We have never passed the ball well, Batesville never does 7 on 7 leagues or anything like that. In the past we have gotten away with run run run. This year we may not be able to. Like I and many PA posters have said as well, our strength is our coaches. They fix problems.
