Has anyone read this?

I first heard about it back in 2004, when my girlfriend/fiancee at the time was reading it. She loved it.

Now, it's being made into a movie with a mega-cast and is already generating lots of Oscar buzz for next year.

I found it in the bargain books bin at Hastings the other day for $5. I think I'll read it once school gets out, but does anyone have any opinion on it before I start?

i read it when it first came out.  i thought it was a really good book.  kinda freaky at the end, but good.  i have loaned it out to friends to read and they liked it too.  i am anxious to see the movie.

Ramblin man, did you read this? The first chapter kind of makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up, but after that it is a really good book.
